This build is designed to utitlize smite to its maximum potential.  Considering that you declare smite after you roll to hit, you can save them for critical hits and do some nice damage.

The build

Fighter (champion) lvl 3 for 19-20 crit range (probably just go up to 5 for the extra attack).  Paladin(Oath of Vengence) lvl 3 for smite and Vow of Emnity (advantage against target for 1 minute).  Then 12 lvls of warlock for reusuable spells for more smiting (sorcerer could work here too, I haven't run the numbers).  Warlock will give you an extra attack and Life Drinker.

There is alot of flexibility with this build concept the basic engine being Champion 3 and Paladin 2.  I could see the obvious races being variant human, halfling, and half-orc, due to extra feat, rerolling 1s and extra weapon damage on crit respectively.

I would probably dual weld for the extra attack, but there are many ways to generate bonus action and reaction attacks.

Extra Attacks don't stack, just so you know. The only way to get 3 attacks/round is Fighter 11.

Fighter (Champion) 11/Paladin 2/Warlock 7 would do the trick. And since Thirsting Blade doesn't stack with the Fighter EA, you can go Tome or Chain instead of Blade, both of which are better.

Good point on the extra attacks not stacking.  For some reason I thought that extra attacks don't stack with non fighter classes, but that a fighters extra attack would stack with other classes extra attack.

For min/max'd crit fishing, you really need a source of advantage. That nearly doubles your chance of a crit on any given attack. With a crit on 19-20 w/ advantage, you have nearly a 1 in 5 chance to crit. Quite powerful.

Lot's of sources for it. One that you are already setup for is casting darkness centered on yourself paired with the warlock's devil's sight. There are some obvious downsides for your team of course.

Or just have a bard or druid in the party for fairy fire.  My bard cast it every big combat, but then again the rest of the party are all good damage dealers, 2 monks, sorcerer, 2 fighters.  Not everyone shows up all the time, but advantage for them is nice.

If you allow UA I would reccomend paladin 2 / sorcerer (favored soul) 18. Quicken a hold person / monster then procceed to use you two attacks to crit - smite the everloving crud out of whatever creature gets in your way.

Would be nice, I'm making this character for AL, and will probably just go straight pally, but its fun to make neat builds that do something really well.
