My DM is pretty open and so I think she will OK this but I am wondering what other people would think.

I want to make a Dragon Born Character (not sure on class yet) but for the dragon its ancestory is based on I want to do a Faerie Dragon. He would have the Euphoric Breath. I would also make him small (size and speed of a Halfling) Because his Dragon is the size of a house cat. As far as racial stats I dont really care. I just want to try some thing different.

As far as class I am not sure. I am kind of leaning tward Druid but may be a Bard or Sorcerer.

You Guys think that this is too Cheesy? Think it would be allowed in your sessions? Just looking for some opinions. I am pretty new to D&D and trying to streatch my wings some.

A small sized, draconic humanoid? So you want to play a kobold?

Seriously though, I think it's a pretty cool idea, and I've never heard of someone trying to pull this one off before. I would allow it at my table, with some minor compromises to reconcile normal dragonborn racial features with a faerie version. I definitely encourage you to pursue the idea, but be prepared to negotiate with your DM.

I'd allow it. CHA +2, WIS +1 for starting racial stats, I think, and I'd give something like resist Charm as elves have.

Great idea, very interesting.

So I ran the idea by my DM. She says that stat wise I should be like a normal dagon born but have Dex rather than streangth. So for racial stats I did +2 Dex (as apposed to STR for most dragin born) and +1 Cha (same as other dragon born).

For the breath attack I am going to use the Fairy Dragon  Breath. The issue I am havving is the Dragon Breath (from other dragon born) scails up a few times as they level. Any body have any ideas that are usful but not over powerd. I would rather falt on the side of under powerd than over powerd. The ideas that I have come up with is upping the saving throw and/or upping the duration or Adding some dammage at higher levels (not sure I like this one). Obvously Constructs and Undeads would be Immune. Any Ideas?

Dragon Born also are resistant to there dammage type I am think of doing some thing like the elves and getting advantage aginst things like Charm may be adding confuse to that.

As for class I will be playing a Rogue/Thief or Rogue/Acain Trixter. I feel that it is a class that seems to match the trixter personality of a Faerie Dragon.

For alignement Chaotic Good.

Any advise?

Control effects don't need to scale up.  Their always useful.

Only damage effects needs to scale.

Threw together a quick version of this race/subrace. Thoughts? Too good? Not good enough?

Speed: Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Darkvision: Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Fey Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Euphoria Breath: You exhale a puff of euphoria gas at one creature within 5 feet of you. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw, or for a number of rounds equal to your Cha modifier the target can't take reactions, doesn't move, and the only thing it can do on its turn is make a Wisdom saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success. Once you have used this ability, you must take long rest before you can use it again.

The DC for the saving throw is your Cha mod + 8 + your proficiency bonus.

Sprout Wings: As an action, you can grow magical wings from your back. These wings give you a fly speed of 20 feet, and last for one minute. Once you have used this ability, you must take a short or a long rest before you can use it again.

Added the wings bit because it seemed fun and flavorful to me. Take it or leave it, whatevs.

Edit: I should note that I really love this idea, and I'm adding this race to my homebrew alt-Earth setting.

I really like that. The only thing I would change is this:    The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw, or for a number of rounds equal to your Cha modifier (minimum of 1).  I would also like to make it a cone or a ray like the other dragon breath but may be with less range.

Or you could do level /4 (round up) but I like the cha mod better.

Making it a ten foot cone (so three squares/hexes total) would probably be a good way to handle it.

The Wings that grow on a short rest while very flavorful seem a little over powered to me, both Utility and in Combat.

Although i'll be honest, I'd love to see this added as a Draconic Origin option for Sorcerers.
