Is there any reason the Sorceror has more draconic attributes than the DragonBorn? One would think draconic ancestry, frightful presence (given base height and weight minimums), at the very least, would have been an automatic racial trait. I would think even  a +1 bonus to AC and frightful presence would be within reason.

If this is a duplicate thread, my apoligies. I could not locate a thread regardig the topic.

The easy answer would be "because an individual can be both at the same time and Wizards wanted to avoid overlaping traits".

But from a lore perspective, I think Dragonborn are biologicaly closer to real dragons, but they don't necessarily embrace their origin as much. According to the Player's HandBook, Dragonborn put more importance in their clan than anything else. The aim to be self-sufficient as a clan, so they probably try to differentiate themselves from the dragons, just as they do from the gods.

Meanwhile, sorcerers are driven by their bloodline and many even become obsessed with it. Through magical rituals, meditation and other self-improvement methods, those sorcerers crave to become like their draconic ancestors.

Things like frightful presence are more related to the magic the radiates from true dragons, than to their physical appearance alone.

As for the +1 bonus to AC, I think they want to limit any direct bonus to AC. Giving a plain +1 bonus to AC would put them a step above any other race for armor wearers, and giving them the same AC formula as sorcerers would be useless for anyone wearing armor.
