#1 Dr.Fresh Feb 15, 2015 1:10:21	I am a DM and have a player in my group who is a female Drow, and has chosen the Druid class. I want to point out how well it suits her and this race in particular, but still makes the character almost OP in some ways.   She went on to chose the Circle of the Land, and focusing on the Underdark spells given in that feature. This gives her initially the "Web" and "Spider Climb" spell to use indefinitely - all the time, anywhere without using a spell slot. Additionally, she has chosen to use a Giant Wolf Spider (CR 1/2) as her favourite Wild Shape. One cool feature here, as with the combination of being a Drow Druid aligned with Lolth and so on, is that when the player transforms into a spider and climbs any surface, it doesn't matter if her spider HP is down to 0 and transformed back to normal form - she still has Spider Climb as a sort of "passive" thing and doesn't fall down from the sealing, wall, tree or whatever she is climbing.   The hard part for me is that she seems to go around the Drow weakness of being in direct sunlight - which should otherwise give disadvantage on all attack, saving and ability rolls for normal Drows. Instead, she has an arsenal of druidic spells to use that doesn't use attack rolls, but focuses on the enemy to use Constitution saving throws or similar. Also, using her Wild Shape to transform into a creature also doesn't expose her "Drow-skin" to direct sunlight, right?   So my questions are really: Is there really so many Druid spells that doesn't use attack rolls if that isn't stated on the spell, or am I reading them wrong? Should her Drow weakness to sunlight add on to her Wild Shape as well, or can I emphasize it in some other way? Is it possible that she can cast "Web" and webify monster almost all the time (sacrificing an action of course)?
#2 supreme_slayer Feb 15, 2015 1:25:51	I am not sure if I'm missing something, or you haven't read the book closely enough. Circle Spells for Land Druids are always prepared on your spell list and don't take up the limit for spells prepared for the class, but you still have to use a spell slot to cast them. Also, there is nothing that says that Drow or Land Druids have Spider Climb passively.   As far as vision goes, it's good if she has found a way to get around her weakness, considering it's such a stupid one, as much sense as it makes. There will still be times it will be relevant anyways, so I say don't worry about it.
