Hello, I have made up a back story to help explain how my fighter might have obtained magical powers, I was wondering if anyone would mind reading it over and giving me some feedback? It would be appreciated!

Some other info before reading: I had gone back and changed a few things during writing it, reading through it quick I don't think I missed anything but if something doesnt make sense please point it out the main idea is that he's been thrown through time via an artifact that has left him with magical powers, but I'm also trying to leave some things vague, such as the name of the god, whether I went forward or backward in time, if at all, maybe I was just put somewhere else on the world in the same time to leave a sense of mystery for my character to uncover, but also have the artifact destroyed in the process of the story because frankly that artifact is a little game breaking :P

The battle was going well, Krognak thought, for the first time his Orcs were pushing forward against the Dwarves, year after year, battle after battle, a seemingly endless war, the Dwarves beat them back, maintaining their foothold on this battlefield, many wars between many races and armies had been fought here over the ages, and many more would come, you could always find old weapons here and there scattered around the field, some half buried, some broken, the evidence was there, but right now, it was them, it was their war. The Dwarves held the ridge in front of the mountain pass that would eventually lead to their home, it seemed to always give them the advantage but not this time, they were winning, unknown to the Dwarves, the Orcs this time had the advantage, a powerful one.

==================================================================================

The Dwarves occupied the mountain, while they never pushed back as far to eliminate the Orcs completely it was more because they had no interest in the Orcish lands, they were fine with their mountain, it had everything they needed, and the Orc lands were far away,  besides, no one had ever breached the ridge as long as they had been there, they just had to hold it and push back as the Orc numbers began to thin, this time however, the Orcs had managed to get a little further than they previously had, and then again, a little further, something was off but they did not yet realize it.

==================================================================================

Krognak ordered his Orcs forward, they would have the mountain this time, this time they would not fail, this time would be different, the Orcs were pushing the Dwarves back further than they ever had, for the first time, they had taken the ridge, the Dwarves were holding their ground as best they could however they were being pushed back into the mouth of the pass, victory was getting closer and he could taste it!

==================================================================================

The Dwarves were starting to panic, you could not see it on their face, they never showed signs of defeat, it was considered a weakness to give up, but they were baffled at the turn of events of this battle, proud warriors as they were they fought to maintain the line, soon they had been pushed into the mouth of the pass. Daragor Foecrusher had been near the front line the entire battle, he had been pushed back up the ridge and into the maw, something wasn’t right, every time he looked to his left or right the Orcs had taken ground on the flanks,  yet none had advanced from those directions, it didn’t make sense, what was going on? How did they manage this? This wasn’t possible! It was then he felt something hit his boot and he looked down to see what it was.

==================================================================================

Krognak was pleased with the progress, while he was a Shaman by nature and was used feeling power surge through his veins, he had never felt anything like this. His God had given him a gem in secret, which he encrusted in his staff, he was instructed on how to use it, where this gem, this, artifact came from, his God would not tell him, for the God’s were not allowed to interfere in the affairs of the mortal races, it would be a great crime to do so, but this God had done so before undetected, why would this time be any different? The blue gem bestowed to Krognak could control the flow of time, every once and while he could use it to stop time for the quickest of moments (at the advice of his God to not draw attention by using it at length) to advance a few of his troops and push the otherwise sturdy but now defenseless Dwarves back and cut them down. It had to look like a real battle or the other Gods might take notice of the treachery, so slowly he pushed on each flank alternating between the two. Krognak figured enough time had passed to use the gem again, but this time, in the mouth of the pass, when he went to use it, nothing happen, the battle still raged on, he tried again, nothing, a look of horror came across his face when he looked as his staff and realized the gem was missing, he looked around frantically, where could it have gone!? As he crouched down to survey the ground he saw it up ahead, it had been kicked around in the battle unknowingly, however now it rested on the other side of the Dwarven lines, they need to get it he though, they must reach it! Just then he saw a hand reach down to grab it, Krognak did not know the full power of the gem, but he did know if handled untrained the effects could be catastrophic, he let out a bellowing yell but it was too late, the hand grasped the gem and an explosion of bright light enveloped the entirety of both armies and the surrounding area.

==================================================================================

Daragor Foecrusher awoke laying in a field, it was now night time, the last thing he remembered was feeling something hit his boot during the battle, looking down, discovering a blue gem, and a flash of light as he grasped it. There was no one else around, no other Dwarves nor Orcs. Getting up he felt different, he felt an energy inside of him, it wasn’t adrenaline, but he couldn’t place it, he had never felt this type of energy before. He looked himself over, he still had his armor, his great axe was still clutched in his left hand, his right hand however had sustained an injury he felt, he turned over his hand and sticking out of it was a small blue shard, it was a fragment of the gem he had picked up, he pulled it out and he felt the unknown energy diminish ever so slightly, but the energy was still there, what happened? What was this? He surveyed the area, he did not recognize it, where was he? The seasons had changed, how long had he been out? The constellation’s were different, “What the hell!?”… (end)

I like it! To me, it looks fine as is and has a wonderful uniqueness to it, but poor Daragor is definitely going to have a bit of a struggle adjusting to such a shift/change I imagine. ;)
