| #2jaappletonMar 12, 2015 6:43:30 | I don't see why not. To me, its also reasonable to get Fiend powers from a Dragon. |

Essentially the bad cult's ritual consisted of 3 parts. 1) Summon the demon. 2) Bind the demon. 3) Agree to release the demon in exchange for power. Parts 1 & 2 went well enough, but they did not specify in the bargain that the demon had to return to it's home after being released.
Naturally, the demon gave them a little bit of power, was released, then ate the moronic cultists and reclaimed the tiny sliver of it's power that it had given them. As a result of it's completed bargain, it was free to walk the mortal world unchallenged. My character was an apprentice to a member of Ilmater's temple and a part of the team that located the cult's remains. In order to seal the demon again, the original pact had to be recreated. The demon objected to being bound, rather forcefully. In order to send the demon back to the abyss, the bargain that the cult attempted had to be made correctly and my PC, as a mere apprentice cleric, was the only surviving member of the party with an "unclaimed" soul (the rest had already pledged to Ilmater, but he had not yet passed the initiation rites into the temple). In service to the Ilmater, God of Suffering, he suffered through having his soul stained by the demon's power. |
