You're going to play an adventure that will take you through all locales and obstacles, and just past lvl 5 before the climax scenes. (After the adventure you aren't going to play those characters anymore.)

You've decided to multiclass. What's your plan?

Nice combo! I never would have thought of putting those two together.

Barbarian 2/Mood Druid 3 =  Raging Bear.  As long as you don't have too many encounters in a a day.

Though generally speaking, you want to go striaght 5 before you multi-class, as you get a pretty major feature at 5.

The "True Assassin" just starts to function at Fighter2/Rogue3, so that would make a good capstone to your campaign.

How about Fighter 1, Rogue 4 (variant human as per most CO builds). Defensive style, a shield, a rapier, and the Sentinel feat. Nothing clever here, just fishing for a chance to use your reaction for an attack. Sentinel + sneak attack synergise nicely. AC is 19: 12 (studded) + 4 (dex) +2 (shield) +1 (fighting style). Add 5 as a reaction if the target you wanted to stab goes for you instead of your friend (from Shield spell, you Arcane Trickster, you). HP is 8+6+5+5+5+15 = 44. Attack is +7 vs AC doing 1d8+2d6+4 (av 15). Can do other stuff too. Voila, a tank-rogue. Apologies for the format, my phone and the forum aren't playing well together.

Ranger/Rogue archer build.

Probably Ran3/Rog2, but 2/3 works also.

1-Rogue

2-Rogue

3-Rogue

4-Cleric - Trickery

5-Cleric

The plan - Let the other  optimizers, me included, bite off more than they can chew then when the other PCs are all dead, take all their stuff and stealth away. (Fixed )

As you say, a good optimizer can optimize in every instance and not just number porn.  My cleric/rogue is optimized for optimized role play.  Eat more fiber.

Just like to add, that all players, inlcuding optimizers, bite off more than they can chew at times.  Although I commented in jest at the opimizers, I in no way meant that biting off more then you can chew is liimited to just optimizers and that this rogue/cleric would not discriminate if he had to take the stuff off a dead unoptimized party.

Here's what I'd do:
Variant Human: Feat: Alert

Str 8, Dex 16, Con 12, Int 8, Wis 13, Cha 16

Rogue 1: Expertise(4 skills+1 tool)
Warlock 1
Warlock 2: Agonizing Blast+Beguiling Influence(+2 skills)
Cleric 1: Knowledge Domain(+2 skills+Expertise in them)+Shields, Guidance
Bard 1: +1 skill, +1 musical instrument, Prestigitation

Okay, so what have we here:
You generally go first and can't be surprised
9 skills and 2 tools from class, expertise in 4 of them
7 cantrips including Eldritch Blast and Guidance
Access to Bless, Healing Word, Hex
A reasonably effective attack - Agonizing Eldritch Blast at 5th for 2d10+10+2d6(Hex) damage, av of 28

Then keep investing in Warlock all the way up for eventual 9th level spells being Tome for Ritual and 10 cantrips total, Devil's Sight for seeing through Darkness, Mask of Many Faces for DIsguise Self at will. Basically, the goal here is that you're about as effective as a Rogue at the Rogue's job, particularly in the early going. Then on top of it, you're a caster.

Eh I just mocked up a Rogue 1/Knowledge Cleric 1/Bard 1/Warlock 2/Lorr Bard 6 Half-Elf.

It's not the most optimal with only one ABI by level 8, but it's proficient in basically everything.

10 Str, 16 Dex, 8 Con, 12 Int, 14 Wis, 16 Cha if you're curious as to the starting stats.
