My current favorite character concept that can utulize this versatility is a religious assassin that I would build as a Vengance Paladin and Assassin Rogue. You can play this character almost as a Batman type character or as a character that ends up pushing the limits of the concept of "the greater good". His personality can be dark or happy go lucky. He may seem mysterious or like a crazed lunatic. That choice is yours.
I'd probably go level 6 vengance paladin and a lvl 14 assassin rogue.
The synergy is that when I try to sneak up and assassinate some unexpecting person, I get crits and advantage when I hit a suprised creature and by critting I get to roll all my divine smite and sneak attack damage dice again. It makes for some amazing damage to ensure my target dies instantly.
I am also good at ranged combat by virture of sneak attack and the feature that gives me advantage if I go before them.
It's easy to switch from a longbow to a shortsword in battle without affecting action economy.
I can also get advantage against a single target for easy sneak attacks with my vengance paladin channel divinity feature.
I think the flavor and melee - ranged - and stealth versatility of this character will be amazing. I also boost saving throws with my level 6 paladin aura.
I absolutely love the flavor and mechanics of this character build. Anyone else have any dex based characters they want to describe?

Monks, paladins, rogues, rangers, fighters, barbarians, warlocks, some clerics, valor bards...
Leaving wizards and druids as about the only ones who can't use it as a primary, and even they will use it as a secondary. |

Boy is it sweet when there's surprise. I've also thought of a Barbarian 6/Sorcerer 6/Assassin 8. Because why not a flying, sharpshooting Assassin that can see and hit a target at 600ft? |

| #9TopCheeseFeb 13, 2015 12:26:00 | A friend of mine made this... Stout Halfling is used so that I can climb on medium and larger targets using Climb Onto a Bigger Creature Action. Fighter 1/Rogue 3 (thief)/ Fighter 2 (Battle Master) Str: 10 Background: Urchin Expertise: Acrobatics and Stealth Background: Might use the old 3e fluff of the halfling tree jumpers or whatever they were... Need to look into it again. Acrobatics (+3 Dex + 6 double prof = +9), with advantage if I sneak up on the target. My battle master Rodeo Maneuvers will be... Menecing Strike Final build is Fighter 5/Rogue 4/Cleric (War) 11 Has a good nova even. |

This would be a character that could track you down, stealth to get the drop on you, and would always be underestimated! Another Dex-based concept I had was a Halfling or Elf (or Forest Gnome) Arcane Trickster with an Entertainer background, who would definitely have to be flavored as a Harley Quinn character. The only issue with that is she'd probably be the dreaded Chaotic Neutral alignment, lol. Sorry I can't come up with more mechanical reasons for these characters, I usually create characters based on flavor. |
