I wasen't able to decide between fighter or barbarian for the next game, so i choose both. Planning to play a fig/ barb multiclass, would love some advce to optimize the "beast". Thanks

Just messing with ya. :D
My first question would be "what race," and the second would be "tower of power or cuisinart?" The myriad choices you get with the new system can set you up with a pretty nice build for either type of play. Some races, like half-orc for the two-handed crusher or halfling for the dual-wielding tumbler, just stack stats in better places for optimization. You may be like me and want to play a forest gnome barbarian though!
With a little more info from you, we can open up a couple cans of worms to dig through. :D |

Regardless of combinations of class feature combinations you could get with the mixed levels at 5th, this puts you behind the DPS power curve. That being said, if you're willing to give that up, some fun combinations for bar/fig that I can see include the duelist bear totem, or the two-weapon fighter wolf totem. You could also go defensive fighter bear totem, but you want a DPS solution with backup tanking, not the other way 'round. I like the eagle totem for style, but as a fighter combo, unless it's an archer combo, it's kind of meh.
I put my concept before stats, so I would probably start as a barbarian and go straight to level 3 to grab the totem power. You'll be lagging on the DPS side for a while because of this if you go bear totem, but it makes more sense for story. Then begin your martial training and go to 2 in fighter to get action surge and your fighting style. From there, decide if you want that second attack and go for 5 in barb, or if you want a martial archtype to add some more flavor and go to 5 in fighter and put the extra attack off for another level.
Also remember that you only get stats bumps/feats at the 4th level of your class, not 4th character level like older versions. |
