| #1lkwpeterMar 01, 2015 8:53:40 | Hey all,
I am playing a Figter(1)/Rogue(3) at the moment and need to choose my archetype.
Now I don't know if either to choose the Thief or the Arcane Trickster.
My play style is Ranged Combat (with a long bow) and I like to sneak a lot.
Although the Supreme Sneak on level 9 seems to be quite nice, I am considering if the Trickster-Spells might compensate it.
Another thing is Fast Hands. Having the possibility to use the bonus action to 1) disarm a trap, 2) open a lock or 3) Use an Object sounds good as well. But how important are those features really?
Mostly lockpicking or disarming traps is used outside of fights. And if you need to do such things, you can take a standard action. S
o there is only the "use an object" action left. You can do a lot of things with it like throwing ball bearings and other stuff. But would you trade this for spellcasting?
Would do think would be best for my choice!
Would be really glad about help!
Thanks in advance, Peter |

Do you want to be a spell-slinging sneak or manipulative illusionist? Go for the Arcane trickster. Do you want to be the notorious catalyst to action, always sticking your fingers where they don't belong, even thoughout the thick of battle? Perhaps Thief is the better choice. I think Thief gives you an excellent opportunity to always have some way of expressing your character through action, even in combat. Challenge yourself to use fast hands for something creative every turn! I think Arcane trickster gives you a lot of opportunity for manipulation and thievery too, not the least through the Mage hand legerdemain feature. Good luck with your choice! |

| #6PillowattackMar 04, 2015 7:02:47 | You can also drop caltrops and ballbearings with a bonus action |
| #7YunruMar 04, 2015 14:09:51 | Combine the Healer feat and Fast Hands and you've got a field medic. |
| #8ClutchboneMar 05, 2015 8:50:42 | I'd always go Arcane Trickster; you can pull off a lot of shenanigans with minor image, message, and mage hand. |
