#1 KaliRA73 Apr 26, 2015 9:02:54	Firstly let me establish that I am totally new to D&D. I have years and years of role playing experiene with lots of different systems but we just never played D&D. I recently bought the D&D starter set and ran my friends through it. We started playing in person and the finished by playing through Roll20.net. When we moved to playing online my friend playing the fighter that came with the starter set took the character sheet with him so I no longer have it. Anyway by the end of the campaign he had hit level 5 and said he had +10 to hit with his bow. Is this correct? That seemed like a insane bonus.

He should have +3 proficiency, 18 Dexterity (+4 modifier, assumes hr put his 4th level Ability Score Improvement into Dexterity) and +2 from the archery style for a total of +9. If he has +10, he's got a magic +1 bow or a quiver of +1 arrows. It is high, but accuracy is what the archer does.

At level 1 that character has a +7 to hit with ranged weapons, at level 5 the highest that should reach is +9 (proficiency increases by 1 at level 5, dexterity increased by 2 at level 4). And yes, extra attack works for ranged weapons as well.
