I am Tonto, I have played my first session of D&D last night, about 4 hours of 4th edition. The DM included some warforged and in my inane roleplaying I befriended them. Now I act as though my halfling is one of them. Today I spent my time pouring through items and armors and and things that I might strive for... to learn the future of my character by learning what exists in the world of D&D... i'm very new, but very intrigued.

While searching I came across this familiar known as the "Warforged Faceplate."

I am a Halfling Rogue (Thief), how is it one might typically go about obtaining a familiar? Do I need prerequisite abilities? I mostly want it for character flavor, but I'm not sure if there is any way I can obtain it as all the posts I read had specific classes that benefit from familiars, but Rogue was not among them.

This are the 5e boards, not the 4e boards.

That said, in 4e, the only way to get an arcane familiar is to be an Arcane Class or to multiclass into an Arcane Class.

apologies, i just subscribed to dndinsider.com so a few friends and i could use the character builder and compendium and the forums link took me here, i assumed it would naturally link me to an appropriate forum. That said you've answered my question regardless of me asking it in the wrong place and I thank you... it seems I'll have to multiclass at my earliest convenience if Tontorrin is to gain a warforged face.

These warforged have names branded across them, so said the DM, and I had asked for a brand and was denied, after a few quests successfully accomplished for them I was granted a stone branded with their name for me: Broken. They refer to me as a "defective flesh model." I was hoping my desires to be more warforged-like would enable me to convince the DM to steer me in a way to turn that branded stone into a faceplate with the name Broken branded upon it's forehead.

Just a bit of insite into where my halfling is roleplaying-wise. Thank you for your second perspective into how I might obtain this faceplate.
