#1 SSJ-Echoes Aug 23, 2015 7:11:40	Hey all, After all these years of wanting to play D&D I finally am abale to find a play group of my level and we are about to start tomorrow.   I am much decided to play Paladin, as it has been my favourite archetype in nearly everygame I played as a boy and up to now. I just have a couple of questions before starting with my final build.   First off I am very torn between Oath of Devotion and Oath of Vengence. Oath of devotion seems like the better Role-Playing type that I would be interested in doing while Oath of Vengence just seems nice to play in terms of fighting and seems just OP.   So is there a very big difference between both Oaths in terms of fighting or damage output? Or is the Oath of Devotion much more like a healer type, with less than ideal damage output.    Or can the Oath of Vengence be Lawful Good? Could I spare people and be a merciful player without going agaisnt the tenents of my Oath?   I want my character to be a LG Paladin, much like a Jedi, very zen and collected, but also at the same time I want to be more of an upfront DPS type of Character.   PS: Since this will be my first game of D&D ever I still don't know half the rules so I might not understand all the keywords you guys are trying to tell me.   Thanks for the Help!
#2 SquirrelLK Aug 23, 2015 7:47:33	If I were you, I would choose Oath of Devotion, beecause you cannot beark the tennats of your oath without becoming either a regular Fighter, or you become a Oathbreaker. But I am not you, so those are just suggestions. If you have anymore questions, just ask me. I can help you understand the other half of the rules and keywords.
