I am putting together a character for the next season of Adventurer's League. I know there is a separate forum for that, but I am trying to get help with what people think would be the best class for this character developed from the background.
Kuura is a White Dragonborn found by a group of Auril worshippers while they were traveling to the Ice Temple near Andora (Forgotten Realms information). He was raised by the church (Acolyte background) and once he became old enough, took up in support of the church of Auril.
What I am trying to decide based upon this background is which would seem more thematic and fit well with the "My Goddess deserves to rule the world instead of your foppish elemental evil" idea that I had for Elemental Evil. I have narrowed it down I believe to either Paladin (taking Oath of Vengence) or Cleric (taking Tempest domain). Which one do people think fits better for the character concept and why? |

I was mainly looking at being a beacon of power (in a sense) for my deity, trying to twart the plans of the Cult of Elemental Evil and the Prince's that they worship. My character feels that they are intruding in an area where they don't belong, namely taking the spot that is rightfully (in his eyes) that of Auril. I am going to be Lawful Evil, as I feel that fits the best (even with Auril being Neutral Evil). That was the main reason I went with Paladin or Cleric. He has a strong connection with his deity. I do want to help the party in some way, as without them, my furthering of my deities plans will come to a quick end with me being dead. Like you said, either one works, but for an extreme worshipper, who is trying to further the plans of his Goddess, it is hard to decide which. |
