Help Building Magical Swashbuckler

Howdy

I've been wrestling with how to properly multi class at least 3 levels of rogue (swashbuckler) with a spell slinging class. This pushes me towards casters who use CHA as their primary stat.

What I've been struggling with, is exactly how to build him. One angle is pact of the blade warlock, but I've been a little underwhelmed by it. The other angel is valor bard.

Race is most likely human, but I'm open to anything.

I appreciate the help!

Have you thought about a Favored Soul Sorceror? You can choose to know the spells from the War Cleric Domain, which includes some good spells like shield of faith, and spiritual sword, as well as your standard Sorc spells, like shield and fireball. It still uses CHA as it's main stat, but has access to some rather nice combat spells.

valor bard is a fantastic gish, and i also second a war domain favored soul.

Swashbuckling is about awesome duels and fights.

You don't have to play a rogue to be a Swashbuckler, it's just that they named it like that.

A light-magic Swashbuckler could be an Eldritch Fighter, you simply take a rapier and buff yourself with magic.

A heavier-magic swashbuckler works with an hexblade warlock, the idea is that you cast Hex and use dual-wielding short swords since Hex triggers from the Bonus Attack.

Jul 22, 2015 6:53:51 For damage, picking up Warlock for two levels to grab Hex and Darkness with Devil's Sight as an Invocation. For flavor, going Bard to pick up some controlling spells isn't bad. Warlock can do that too, especially with Command. "You there! Go away. This is between he and I..."

Valor Bard or War Favored Soul is the way to go. Valor Bard will give a bit more Dread Pirate Roberts feel to it, IMHO, if thats the kinda of thing your going for.
