Making a Half-Orc Pirate Monk for 5e. I had another Monk character in my party but I was wanting to swap him out with the half-orc casue I feel I can do more with him.

My DM and I arranged my orig Monk (Saburo) would die in a heroic sacrifice at the hands of my new Monk (Belokk) to save his allies. From then on, Belokk would be bound in some way to the party (prisoner/comm service, or some other thing like that, I don't know that part of the story yet) and being followed around by Saburo's spirit who's haunting him to complete his mission that he originally set out to do (to save a childhood friend from the influence of demons) - so it will work into a sort of slight redemption for the kind of person that Belokk is.

But about Belokk, he is a Half-Orc, chaotic neutral, bastard son of a noblewoman and her orc bodyguard. When his grandfather (the noblewoman's father) found out, he had the father murdered and his daughter with her half orc son cast out of Waterdeep. From there she took refuge in Daggerdale in the home of an old servant of hers.

That's all I have so far for a backstory. But for personality traits I chose:

Traits: I work hard so that I can play harder when the work is done (He works for the money (He'll work for money, power, glory, and rewards - and he'll live up the benefits spending or abusing)

I never pass up a friendly wager (I originally wanted something that resembled a daredevil-esque trait (playing chicken with death), like the born gambler trait from the charlatan. But this was closest)

Ideal: Mastery - I’m a predator, and the other ships on the sea are my prey (He seeks to be no-one's punching bag or trick pony. He's also prone to violence and anger.)

Bond: The ship is most important - crewmates and captains come and go (His eye is on the prize, no matter if he has to hurt foes, friends, flora or fauna)

Flaw: My pride will probably lead to my destruction (Always felt he was destined for the free better life, but he feels stronger and tougher than most others - orc pride)
