| #1Shogun_AssassinSep 12, 2015 22:00:52 | I would like some help building my new character im excited about a Aarakocra bard.
I really like the idea of being able to fly, Here are a few things im hoping to get from the build:
singing to inflict damage or conditions Firing arrows from a far possibly wind & thunder spells ( thinking it would be coming from my wings) Still be helpful in a dungeon being stealthy "Swooping down to clutch an unsuspecting enemy and dropping them" (grapple)
What would be the best use of my stats, what equipment what be my best opition, It doesnt have to be OP but i still want to be a contributing party member, what spells work with the build i want, where do i take this in later levels ? MC? Ive looked at
Bard guild http://community.wizards.com/forum/player-help/threads/4146291 grappel guild http://community.wizards.com/forum/player-help/threads/4142801 & Aarakocra synergies http://community.wizards.com/forum/player-help/threads/4193126
Im thinking point buy and go
12,12,14,8,11,15
Then add the +2 dex +1 wis
Thanks for your help

| #2Shogun_AssassinSep 14, 2015 16:21:32 | So ive gone for 14 14 14 8 11 14
What is a way that I can get a bonus action to move (or a extra move) im thinking MC rogue but if i im level 3 and MC rogue as bard and get expertise again can i put it on two different skills? |

Make sure you pick up athletics and stealth at least for expertise if more then maybe perception and insight. It sounds like you should go lore bard for a few extra spells and skills and will impose a penalty to enemy attacks as a reaction. Cutting words or that cold can trip from elemental evil that imposes disadvantage and flavor to taste, allies will love u enemies will loathe u. If you going as far as 3 rogue I'd pick trickster to add a level to your casting plus a nifty mage handwhich then u might want to expertise thieves tools and sslight of hand. Your DM is brave by letting you use the bird. Only reason I'd use a bow with this is for extra range and sneak attack. Good luck hope it helps some. |
| #4Shogun_AssassinSep 14, 2015 18:42:03 | That does help, and yes a very brave dm ! im basicly a skill monkey which i reall like as well. I am for sure going Lore bard, ive taken these spells at level 2 1 level rogue (got first to get extra skill and change of save) and 1 level bard
Minor Illusion Thunderclap
Longstrider. p256 Feather Fall. Sleep. Dissonant Whispers
and then im going to take rogue 2 for cunning action (dash), then bard 2 ,bard 3 and pick up heroism, Enhance Ability & Silence , and i would like to get sugguestion at some stage |
| #5drizzt_zyloSep 14, 2015 19:15:55 | I've heard the advice that rushing to 5th level with a class makes a big difference. I find that good cutoff points are generally after an archetype level or an asi. One piece of advice I can give is there is a grappling guide in these forums you've got a bit of it down already. I'd suggest if you want to take it further maybe take hex and or find familiar or summons to give dis on athletics n adv on your check. I'd try and find something to do with all your actions with or without resources like spells or bard inspiration. If you using bard spells more make sure your scores reflect that. If you plan on any melee try and pick up sheleghliegh so you don't need any score but cha for attack rolls and damage. You could try getting thorn whip to yank people into air as well. Idk think a bit outside the box is another good piece of advice and make sure to explain intention. |
| #6Shogun_AssassinSep 15, 2015 19:40:18 | So the DM now has decided that weight is an issue, so i lift him off the ground (x30 strength) but carry him once lifted of the ground(x15 strength) so i can only carry 210 pounds (so super lite) so the grapple build got nerfed ;/ is there a way to push my weight I can carry way up ? or any rules or anything that can help with me still achieving this ? |
