Help with arcane trickster / Cleric trickery build!

So I have an idea to make a deep gnome rogue arcane trickster / cleric of trickery for the new underdark campaign. I wanted the idea of a thief who uses magic but wanted a little more than just arcane trickster. I was thinking of taking arcane trickster 3 or 4 then going all cleric of trickery.

My concern is I'll lag too far behind in usefulness, especially damage, and am thinking of switching to cleric 2 , 3, or 4 and the rest arcane trickster. Right now I'm lvl 2 with a level of each, started rogue. I rolled ridiculous stats so dont worry about the char being mad dependent. Was looking around at ideas but didn't see a lot on the cleric rogue hybrid. Any thoughts?

If nothing, you've got an interesting build. All I can really say is this: Don't worry about it too much. You'll just stress yourself out. Don't come up with some plan of what you think your character should do at each level. Just worry about keeping them alive and level them how you want and how you think will best increase his chances for success. You're playing in a private game, I presume, since you have rolled stats. That alone means you'll be fine. Don't worry about falling behind. Just have fun. If you've got a build idea, go for it. There's no reason to worry yourself about such silly things as "Lagging behind, damage output, and MAD Dependencies". You're good.

Trust me, I stressed out over my first 5e character just like you did. So you know what I did? I killed him off before the game session even started, gave him a ridiculous personality, shuffled his stats a bit, and made one of the single silliest characters I've ever played. Imagine Alex Louise Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist as a Barbarian that pretends to be a Wizard and hits people with his family heirloom Lute, believing the act of doing so to be "Making wonderous music". That's my character. He's a level 7 Variant Human Barbarian with the Touch and Magic Initiate Feats (Took Mending and Ray of Frost Cantrips and Longstrider). Str 14, Dex 14, Con 16, Int 13, Wis 10, Cha 8. Hardly optimized or even really built to do much of anything, but he's the most fun character I've ever had.

I don't mind being a little underpowered and I have played quite a few 5e games. I am just wondering if I am spreading myself too thin with this concept. Our group is a pretty even mix of fluffy and gamers who want to do big damage numbers and I want to make sure I can at least keep up a little. Plus no one likes lagging far behind if they can help it. I am in for the long run (hopefully) on the character and am wondering if there are any tweaks or advice anyone has to keep him at least somewhat viable.

Well, if you grab rogue level 2, you'll be able to make excellent use of your role as a combat medic. Especially if you stick with one class for the rest of your levels thereafter.

I've actually had this exact same character class combination (though not necessarily same theme) in mind for a while and I've been waiting for a good game to come along for me to play it.  The biggest problem I have is that it is, in fact, a very MAD build (Dex for AC and finesse damage/Sneak Attacks, Con so you don't die instantly, Wis for Cleric spells, Int for Trickster spells), so if you're rolled high then you've really got nothing to worry about.
