| #1ElendarOct 03, 2014 10:19:57 | Hi there!
I'm new here and no native english speaker, so I'm very sorry for mistakes. I need your help. I'm a DM an I'm creating a new Ranger Archetype for my campaign. I'ts nothing that players are able to use, it's for an important NPC, basically a rival who should always be a little bit stronger, so he should be beaten by wits and intelligence, not by force. But still, I want this Archetype to be balanced, and I'm terrible at this. Could you help me balancing this Archetype?
It's inspired by the Ranger from the new game Shadow of Mordor by the way. Here is what I got.
Ranger Archetype Cursed Ranger
Some choose the lonely hunt. Some choose the companionship of an trusty animal. But everyone hears, from time to time, when the night is dark and the forest quiet, those voices. And some Rangers....answer.
The cursed Ranger is an Archetype based around high versatility on the battlefield and stealth.
Dark mantle
At lvl 3 the Ranger learns Dark Mantle which allows him to become invisible with a bonus action. He can use this skill only once, then he need a long rest. At lvl 7 he can use it twice. At lvl 11 the skill recharges after a short rest. The skill works like the spell, but need no verbal, somatic or material components.
Ethereal Weapons
At lvl 7 the Ranger learns Ethereal Weapons. This allows him to draw, sheath and change his weapons without using an action.
Shadow Strike
At lvl 11 the Ranger learns Shadow Strike. This allows him as a bonus action to teleport double his speed to a target and attack him. The Ranger must be able to see the target clearly. Three-quarter cover or full cover protect the target. The Ranger need a short rest to recharge this skill.
No skill for lvl 15 yet. Ideas?
Thats what I got so far. Could you help me balancing it so I can create a fun Archetype out of this that isn't completly overpowered?
