Blood Magic: ● Uses Constitution for Sorcerer Spellcasting Ability. Vampyric Liege: ● Able to regain portions of damage done as Hit Points (THP?) ● Various enthralling abilities |
| #2MechatarrasqueOct 05, 2014 15:23:57 | I have had similar thoughts, since there is some interest in playing a vampire, but I don't see the devs making a vampire class or a vampire race. Between friends, dark vision, dominate person, suggestion, gaseous form, enhance abilities, and spider climb, the sorcerer can get a bunch of vampire abilities. For the undead bloodline sorcerer, I would do something like:
Fangs of the Fiend: At 1st level, you get a 1d4 bite attack. If you successfully damage a humanoid with a bite, you gain regenerate 1 hp per round per sorcerer level for 24 hours. During this period, you have disadvantage on all actions while in direct sunlight or under running water.
Undead Constitution: At 6th level, you can spend 1 sorcery point to gain resistance to necrotic damage. You also add vampiric touch to the list of spells you know.
Children of the Night: At 14th level you summon creatures from the shadowfell that take the appearance of a swarm of bats, a swarm of rats, or a wolf. The creature(s) will serve you for an hour, but do not require concentration on your part. You must take a long rest before you can use this ability again.
Shape of the Night: At 18th level you can wildshape like a druid into the form of a bat, rat, or wolf. You can' t use any spells in this form, but, if you bite a humanoid, it counts for your Fangs of the Fiend. You can use Children of the Night while in your other form. You must take short or long rest before you can use this ability again.
This should give you most of the vampire abilities. The Fangs of the Fiend is pretty sweet, so I thought it was worth it to add the disadvantage under sunlight or running water to keep this sorcerer from being too overpowered.
