Ever since I saw this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlACgYHtWCI -  4-5 years ago now, I've loved the look, feel, concept.....really everything about the Human character.

I spent some time with 4th Edition trying to replicate this but wasn't really able too. I'm going to start my first game of 5th edition pretty soon and I'd love to give this concept a try and I'm looking for suggestions on how to make this kind of character?

Thanks

I was thinking about the Eldritch Knight, probably hits a lot of the boxs. I was thinking about taking a level or two of Sorcer or Wizard to increase the casting ability and spells known.

Also trying to figure out the best way to make the weapon he is using.....

I was thiking spear migh tbe the best option.......I'm more trying to figure out how to combine the magic and martial elements.

A spear with a lighting bolt ability or a magic staff with a pointy end.......not sure.

Paladin of vengance ... that last bit sure looks like an angle of vengance to me

I'd go Fighter with Fiend Warlock and the Pact of the Blade to make the weapon (glaive). Supplement that with Polearm Mastery to dupicate his fighting style.

In-game, the weapon he's using is actually a staff. Use a quarterstaff (versatile weapon that doubles as an implement), and just reskin it to do slashing damage instead. DA Mages spit out magic left and right due to how their mana works, so a Warlock with lots of at-will casting should work well. Eldritch Blast in particular simulates how their staff attacks work at range and takes care of a bunch of at-will damage.

Multiclassing for more spells known wouldn't be a bad idea, though you'd either have to give up the heavy hitters at higher levels, or accept only a handful of lower-level spells from the multiclass.

You might want to give a Tempest cleric a look at.
