How do you gain advantage on your enemies?

I'm not talking about advantage as a concept, but the mechanical advantage where you roll 2d20s to determine your attack.  This is extra valuable for rogues as it allows them to get Sneak Attack damage, but it's useful for everyone.  Sometimes when you find a way you over use it, it is boring to attack from the same angle every time you find yourself in combat.  So please share your tips and tricks for gaining advantage on your enemies.  Anything from a simple Faerie Fire to a more convuleted Devil's Sight + Darkness combo.

Shove+Grapple. Easiest way is level 3 monk of the open hand. Grapple then flurry to knock him prone. He's stuck prone til he breaks the grapple. You get advantage and he's at disadvantage.

Otherwise there's the Oath of vengence paladin.

My Paladin is Sword & Board, so he took Shield Master and knocks people prone with it. My DM is nice enough to let me take my bonus action before the attack, though I mainly do it because I've got 2 rogues in the group and "prone" a) gives my allied rogue advantage and b) gives the Bad Guy disadvantage on the opportunity attack (in some cases my ally would rather use Cunning Action for Dash to get further out of retaliation range)

Warlock Pact of the Chain will get you an invisible assistant who can perform the "Help" action.

Faerie Fire, being invisible, there are quite a few ways.

I think the easiest way is just flanking - Page 251 DMG. I only mention it because it's an optional rule in the DMG and some players may not be aware of it.
