The last paragraphe of this ability: "The object can’t deal damage or otherwise directly harm anyone."
So if I create the illusion of a deep deep hole i the ground, like 200 feet down and I make that hole a reality using this ability, he won't take falling damage? since the falling damage is directly caused by the hole?
What happen 1 minute later when the hole become an illusion again? the ennemy is burried 200 ft under ground? still alive and slowly dieing of suffocation? is this still consider caused directly by the object (the hole) or since it created by the disapearance of the object it's doesn't count? similar to what if instead of a hole I make my bridge over the chasm a reality then 1 minute later the enemy is on the bridge when the bridge become an illusion again they will fall down the chasm? take fallign damage? even if it directly from the disapearance of the illusion? |

Other ideas: create and make real an illusory pool of water when the group is dying of thirst, same for a steaming plate of boar meat, make an illusory grappling hook real momentarily to scale a wall, create an illusory gate in a defended castle so the party can walk in with less trouble, create a medicine kit or healing potion... |

If you made a fake bridge over a chasm and then made the bridge real temporarily you could rush your party accross and then when the enemies tried to follow they would fall through the illusion to their deaths. The illusion isn't doing the damage there; the fall into the chasm is.
I don;'t know that illusory food or water would work....what happens when they become illusions again in your belly? |

The illusory reality last for 1 minutes, so yes I would say you cannot eat it nor drink it because 1 minute later it will disapear for real.
If an hole is not an object, is there other cool way to use this ability other then creating a bridge that will disapear under the feet of the enemy? If I create a giant diremole who dig trought the ground a 200 feet hole during the minute and surface under the ennemy (giving them a dex save I guess to jump away from the vibration and collapsing ffloor), and the ennemy fall in the hole, they would take 20d6 falling damage? or does digging in the ground count as doing damage to the ground?
What if I create a Giant who make the room collapse by bringing the ceilling down to the floor?
Can I create an ultra fast flying carpet that go so fast it can go half way around the world in 50 second (considering it take 6 second for everyone to get one and grab the holding bars?
while we are on the subject of illusion, I had a discution with my DM and I was woundering what you guys think about it.
you all know that some artist are so good at drawing that they can draw a 2D picture of key for example and then when you see the picture you really beleive there is key on the table and you try to grab them. (just google "realistic drawings" for great exemple)
So could I create with minor illusion an open box shape illusion the oppening of the box being toward the ground, On this box outside faces I would put a realistic drawing of the surrounding. Since Minor illusion is a cantrip I can recast it all the time, changing the drawing on the box to represent the new angle from moving foward. the final effect would be to hide my party walking toward the enemy camp similar to the soon to be workable invisibility technology (a vest that act like a TV screen ultraHD 4 color picture that show you the image of what is behind the screen, so when you look at it, you can see a very small , very difficult to spot distortion.
With this method I would basically create an invisibility sphere ( a spell lvl 4) but with a much smaller radius, and if an ennemy walk trought the illusion he will see us instanteneously.
Since opponent need to interact with the illusion to receive a DC to see it's not real (or touch it for an automatic success) unless we walk trought an ennemy we should be safe? |
