| #2Ghost_GallusMay 30, 2015 16:46:34 | And why do you need small weapons to do that? |
| #3FunkySpunkMay 30, 2015 16:48:25 | Because you have disadvantage with heavy weapons. |

I think you are looking at the game too narrowly if you can't somehow make that concept work. Be more specific and we cann probably tell you what you need to make it happen.

| #7SterlingRatMay 30, 2015 18:07:07 | I'm going to make a *something* riding a dog for next AL season. I haven't decided on Halfling or Gnome yet... that might depend on if I decide to go Ranger (ride my animal companion) or Paladin (Summoned mount = wolf/mastiff) or Fighter (No special mount... just buying the 25gp riding mastiff)
If I go Paladin, it will be rapier and shield (Mounted combat + 2dex + 2dex... bonus actions used to cast smites until I hit Level 11, then I might switch to dagger with my off hand) If I go Ranger, it will be Shortbow (Mounted c... actually, just "Same as above". Maybe Sharpshooter at 16, but I probably won't get there.) If I go Fighter, I get the extra feats... I will have 20 dex and mounted combat by Level 8... I could go either way with the weapon. 12 & 14 could be... Crossbow Expertise & Sharpshooter? Maybe pick 2 from Defensive Duelist & Resilient Wis & Dual Wielder.
I will probably use the rapier like a lance, too. |

| #18ZardnaarMay 31, 2015 16:24:55 | Actually only 3.5 had different sized weapons for the races. OD&D, BECMI, AD&D 1E and 2E, 3.0 and 4E did not so it is unique to 3.5 and Pathfinder. In AD&D the smaller races just used smaller weapons like short swords and daggers. |
| #19Xeviat-DMJun 01, 2015 0:43:39 | I liked 3.5's weapons. I liked 3E getting size bonuses to AC and Attack to balance their lower damage. I liked that weapons had additional properties, like high crit, crit range, and bonuses to disarms and trips. 3.5E's weapon system is very easily ported over to 5E. Heck, as a guideline for monster creation, I use attack and AC bonuses/penalties to make different sized monsters stats be different. |
