So what's you interesting Tier 2 builds (levels 5-10)?

Currently I'm hung up on either Monk 1/Paladin 2/Druid 2 (for Smite Nova, and +1 AC from Mariner. Oh yeah and climb speed), or Monk 1/Fighter 2/Druid 2 (for Action Surge, and a +1 from Mariner, plus climb speed. Also less MAD). Both have their pros and cons, but both are good at what they do: be beasts.

At level 5: bard 1/warlock 4. By level 10: bard 5/warlock 5. By level 20: bard 5 or 6/warlock 14 or 15. Plays like a magical rogue. Tons of skills, expertise, magical utility, and very decent ranged at-will damage. Also has a bit of buffing/debuffing power.

I put together an Eldritch Knight 4/Abjurer 6 and realised that it made for a fairly decent 4e sword mage able to shield others during combat. It was originally going to be an invoker but I changed my mind once I read the abjurer again.

Its really interesting how " somehow feeling weak yet contributing fully" can be a lot of fun. My bard-warlock certainly has that going for him too!

Finally got to play up my adventure loving "noble" arcanist and it was tons of fun. He's a 5th level GOO Tome Lock that passes himself off as a Wizard if he has to. I say "noble" because he's actually not, but has the Charlatain background. Half-Elf with the Actor feat, Mask of Many Faces, and Awakened Mind makes my deceptions and impersonations extremely hard to see through.

I might consider Lore Bard 3 for the goodies that it'd give. Inspiring my band of misfits and making my deceptions even stronger is a pretty big win.

Nature Cleric 1/Hunter 5 makes for a good medium armor Shillelagh build. Grab Dueling, Hunter's Mark, Colossus Slayer, and Polearm Master to do up to 3d8+3d6+1d4+6+Wis*3 by turn 3. This build lends itself well to Variant Humans, who can get PA at 1st level. Assuming point buy and all attacks hit, that would be a damage range of 25-64 with an average of 44.5. Take Goodberry for out of combat healing, and keep Healing Word prepared for combat heals.

Of course, there's always the old-fashioned Fiend Warlock 2/Draconic Sorcerer 3 build for Eldritch Spam. If you want to make it slightly tankier, start as a Fighter at 1st level for heavy armor, Con saves, Second Wind, and Defense Fighting Style. With that build, I'd take a lightning draconic ancestry to boost Shocking Grasp, which would be used against enemies that close the gap so you can escape without provoking OAs.

Variant Human Tome Warlock 3/Sorcerer X can be used to make a Cantrip Swiss Army Knife, capable of learning the cantrips of every damage type by 4th level. Use the Tome Pact to grab Produce Flame(useful for races without darkvision, otherwise just grab any other damaging cantrip), Sacred Flame, and Vicious Mockery; Warlock levels to get Eldritch Blast and either Chill Touch or Thunderclap; and Sorcerer Levels+Magic Initiate(Sorc) to grab the remaining cantrips that you're missing from your painbow of elemental damage that is all keyed to your Cha.

My favourite builds in this level range would be a light cleric, fighter1/warlock XYZ or various bard ideas.
