We played with a lot of ideas, including Combat Superiority, but they just didn't lend themselves to the paladin smite mechanic evenly. With the release of Psionics, we thought about including a point pool for smiting, but instead simplified the mechanic to simply have effects at your option (rather like the warlock's invocations, but way simpler and less choosing). Details are below. Feel free to leave comments, etc. I like paladins with spells as they are... sometimes. ;)
*Note: The Channel Divinity options are pretty potent. We're still working those out.
Enjoy,

Suggestions on how to word that would be great! |
| #3BRJNJul 08, 2015 17:58:37 | My Ancients Paladin tended to use only 1 or 2 spells per encounter, so it didn't seem so bad when I would say, "I reach within my influence upon Nature, roundhouse the guy in front of me, and envision brambles all over him." Mechanically, I've cast Entangling Smite on him.
