| #2transcendantviewerJul 29, 2015 10:21:58 | Quick question before I make a recommendation: If the king put out a crusade against all magic, why are the crusaders a Paladin and a Bard? I'd think they'd all be fighters, Barbarians, and Rogues. Have you seen a team of 5 Barbarians? Spellcasters can't run fast enough. |
| #3ElfcrusherJul 29, 2015 11:26:00 | Yeah, ironic that there are more casters among the hunters than the hunted. |
| #4Setzer_GJul 29, 2015 12:14:17 | It's a common fantasy and sci fi, and real world trope, though.
We hate All magic.
And by "ALL", we mean "not ours".
Is this team supposed to be tailored against the opposition? I ask because it seems they are being hunted because of their offense, and not because they have magic (which only 1 member does, the cleric no less.) So is this the generic "Mage Killing Team" or is this the "Kill This Party Team". If the latter, I would choose
Human Druid 2/Barbarian 2, A Human wildman scarred by magic, so hunts mages with a passion. Turn into a bear, rage, and grapple/trip/pin poor mage (or cleric in this instance) to death.
Think of team synnergy and battle plan. Are they all going to gang up on one PC first? Each have a specific foe they were chosen for? |
| #5BloodscytheJul 29, 2015 13:56:08 | Yeah, it's a trope.
The team could even have a sorcerer who also hates magic and only casts counterspell and dispel magic, but doesn't realize they're a spellcaster. They just know they have an innate ability to neutralize magic, which the king highly values. |
| #6LanlissJul 29, 2015 14:49:43 | I think the difference is in the flavor. You have a bard, simply giving inspiration on the battlefield, and a paladin, using powers given by the gods themselves. The cleric could be argued not to be a caster by those rules, but the monk is clearly taking advantage of his inborn magic(ki). As a result, the whole player party must be terminated, as they are harboring a filthy magic user. Now, on to suggestions, maybe a ranger of some sort, to assist in hunting the party through the wild. Try to avoid having any true magic users, unless you plan on them betraying the inquisition, or being betrayed themselves. Might make a good ally for the players, if you feel you give them too steep of a challenge. |
| #7transcendantviewerJul 29, 2015 16:29:50 | How does this inquisition feel about Ritual spells? It's not really true magic, more like "Replicated spells". Because I'll tell you what, Commune makes finding people a lot easier, when you know what questions to ask. |
| #8FunkySpunkJul 30, 2015 19:06:28 | Sup!
A Ranger (spell-less if you prefer) is a great addition to a team dedicated to hunting someone or something. Favored Enemy: human ( do they have favored enemy in 5e? I've never actually looked).

| #9Coyote81Jul 30, 2015 20:12:46 | I feel like you need a handcrossbow weilding fighter themed as a witch hunter added to the party. He would be the fanatical type, more likely to set them on fire right there then remember that he has to capture them and bring them back to the king. |
