I got only a few responses before and have since made changes to the archtype.

This is a fighter archtype developed as a 5th edition defender with a minor in leader.cl

For my current campaign Im playing in order to get similair results I had to multiclass with 3 diffrent classes and I felt that if I needed to do that then maybe a new archetype was needed. I didnt want to be a spellcaster at all so I chose fighter and the only other non magical warrior is the barbarian and i didnt see this as a raging brute.

Here goes nothing

Taunt

At 3rd level once per round when you hit with a melee weapon attack you may taunt that target. The target must roll a DC 8+prof bonus+ cha mod wisdom save or suffer disadvantage on attack rolls that dont include you as a target until the begining of your next turn.

Notes: Wanted a feature that made the fighter more sticky cause as far as I can tell there is nothing stopping a monster from ignoring the fighter but the fact it can make a few extra attacks at higher level. Felt it was balanced since a bard can apply disadvantage at range. I imagine it could just be as easily done as a bonus action however I did not want too many competing actions as the character levels up for maybe feats or multiclassing.

Stand Ground

At 7th level enemies in treat squares within your  reach as difficult terrain and it takes an additional square to leave your threatened area.

Notes: Felt it should take more to get around the front line. Not sure what to compare it to but it seems appropriate. Didnt really want to encourage the use of reach weapons so maybe it should be strickly all adjacent squares only.

Commanding Prescence

At 10th level you may sacrifice one of your attacks a round to grant an ally another weapon attack or to allow them to move half speed without provoking.

Notes: I feel this gets more into the leader role though also defender role as well and heres why. Sometimes an enemy just needs to go down in order to keep your allies alive and maybe you realize your own attacks are uneffective or they just need to retreat and regroup. I think this could be compared to beast master granting actions to his companion and to some of the battle master manuvers which. It doesnt add in any extra damage and it takes up his actions itself. I suppose this could also be switched to 15th level and 15th level could be switched to 10th level. I made it once per round in order to not allow a bunch of paladin smites or buffed up extra damaging attacks to be taken extra.

Punishing Mark

At 15th level (or 10th) when an enemy you have taunted makes an attack against one of your allies as a reaction you may move up to half your speed as long as you can end your move adjacent to that enemy after the move you have 3 options.

  • Make an attack and deal an additional 1d8 damage
  • Make an attack and make a shove attempt
  • If the target is hit attack the the enemy and both you and the ally hit take half damage

Notes: Felt the target of taunt needed to have more of a reason to keep thier hands off your ally kinda like 5th edition except the reason came a bit later. Again maybe it could be switched with commanding prescence. And again when making this archtype I didnt want to have a bunch of comflicting actions which also keeps it simple.

Rally

At 18th level when you drop an enemy to 0 or lower hp you may grant yourself or an ally who can see and hear you 10+cha mod temp hp

Notes: Keeping your allies up and enemies down while not providing a huge number of temp hp and it can be as good as healing.

Thanks in advance for the help. Hopefully no one feels that it steps on any other classes or archtypes toes. Next round will be a last rewrite and a 20lvl build of my character planned original and this version. Maybe this will even end up in the homebrew thread for archtypes. I think that needs to be stickied by the way. Here is a link to the previous version of the class if perhaps someone feels they should check that as well http://community.wizards.com/forum/player-help/threads/4222471
