Known Spells & Specific Classes

A tad confused after reading a few different poorly written conversations regarding known/prepared spells and such.

tl;dr:

Do casters know all of their spells in the appropriate spellbook, but can only prepare a set number (determined by class) that are allowed to be swapped around over long rests?

I don't get Wizard spellbooks... -_-

How does the DM know when to provide new spells for the Wizard to find/copy?

-

Level 1 Druid - 16 Wis (+3)

If I create this character, I'm allowed to pick two Cantrips and four 1st level spells.

If I picked two non-combat spells, felt that I was foolish and underpowered, am I allowed to swap the spells & cantrips overnight?

This assumes I know every spell, yet can only prepare a set number of them by praying to some trees or something. Or, before I became an adventurer I learnt these six spells and if I want new ones, I'll have to go researching?

If so, how do I learn new spells?

Level 1 Wizard - 14 Int (+2)

Three cantrips and Six 1st level spells according to my Spellbook.

Preparing spells: level + mod = 3.

Does this mean I can only remember 3 spells from my book to cast that day, but I can swap around within those 6 at long rests?

Wizard gets 2 new spells per level. Seems unfair that other classes know all their spells.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I'm kind of tired. Lemme know and I'll try to explain my confusion better.

I've got some other questions but trying not to overload!

Thanks!

That's awesome, thanks for the help!

I thought I had it down, but wasn't sure.

Good to know about the Cantrips!
