| #1CotantineSep 18, 2014 6:48:09 | I'm playing in a really big big big group and i want to go with a land druid, but is he good? or does he fulfill the waste of space role? I like the druid, it's my favorite class since 3.5, and i want to play also in 5°, i dont want to play the moon druid, because we already have a lot of melee guys in our group, and a lot of damage dealer, we lack of support caster( I HATE THE CLERIC), so i like the idea of a land druid, wht's your toughts about it? |

Bards are better support casters. But they lack the blasting, and don't chage as well per-day. |

Also look at thorn whip with your control spells, you can pull monsters back into your AOE effects. Or back through your spikegrowth! Heat metal will jack up any metal armor wearing baddy.
As for support you can throw that Faerie Fire up on the big bosses and your party will love you! Good Berry is the best out of combat healing spell out there, great for getting folks back to 1 hp too! It might be cheese... but if your DM allows it to work... dip one lvl of cleric (even though you hate it) to get life domain and then your berries now healing 1+2+Wis Mod PER BERRY. Very nice healing for a large party. Not to mention it just makes you a better healer, gives you Heavy Armor if you can ever get some non metal Heavy armor (dragon skin, Wood, Insect Hide...)

As previously mentioned, Land druids provide powerful support and battlefield control, and heal as well as any cleric (other than Life). An elf druid can also provide decent ranged firepower thanks to proficiency in long/shortbows. |

Also, I can report from my experience so far, especially at Gen Con, that groups that don't "cover" every role can do just fine, esp. given the way skills work now. A group of us ended up calling ourselves "team magic" since we had not a single player with a fighter or a rogue, but with 3 clerics (one a War domain, two Life), two wizards, and a warlock, and all of us with darkvision (3 dwarves, 2 elves, and a half-orc), we did alright. We tended to find traps the old-fashioned way, admittedly (i.e. by setting them off), but that was b/c of some poor rolls (as our Perception and Investigation skills were pretty good). So, I wouldn't care to much in any event about the role you cover. Just enjoy the game! |

They also get a lot of the flavorful Druid abilities from previous editions, such as resistance to aging or the charms of Fey creatures.
As such, if you're a fan of the Druid spell list, Circle of the Land seems very useful. I personally like Grasslands druids for the haste and invisibility spell options, but many of the circles have interesting spell bonuses.
Druids have the most breadth in conjuring creatures as well as many good battlefield shaping spells. Their direct damage spells are reasonably good, and contagion can be obscenely powerful. They also get most of the healing spells. I really enjoy playing a spellcasting druid. Circle of the Moon has its appeal for me as well (in a different way), but Circle of the Land is what I would probably gravitate toward if I decided to "play a druid."
I would advise against Monk 1, because you're setting back spellcasting by a level. When other casters could be doing haste or revivify, you will still be using second level spells (for one level).
Hide armor isn't that bad, or you could use the barkskin spell to get a reasonable AC. Hide + shield and a 14 Dexterity will get you a decent AC as well. |

| #9OraibiSep 19, 2014 2:20:14 | I really like the idea of land druids.
I'm considering a house rule in my campaign that land druids can re-attune themselves to the current terrain type during a long rest.
Anyone think that's too powerful?
