Has anyone played it? Having fun with it?
Anyone have some recommended builds or things to consider?

I think it's a great combo. Personally, I'd take my first level as a Bard, second as a Cleric, and then Bard the rest of the way.
This character will be a much better healer from just that one level dip. He will also gain the ability to wear any armor, so feel free to dump DEX if you need to (I feel a 14 in point buy, with medium armor is optimal). If you want to use a longbow, make him an Elf. If you prefer an axe or hammer, make him a Dwarf.
I view this character as the ultimate support character. They can do a lot of controlling with spells, and healing too. They are great with their huge number of skills. No matter what the situation calls for, there will be some way for you to contribute. |

Check out the Paladin Aura of Vitality. You can get that with a level 6 Lore Bard. Tack on the 2+spell level bons of life cleric and you have a spell that heals 2d6 + 5 as a bonus action for each of your turns. (Technically it lasts a minute so the DM will likely let you get about 10 bonus actions worth of it even if your not in combat. That's an insane amount of hp recovery at character level 7).
Over 10 rounds it will heal on average as much as the heal spell.
In my opinion the lore bard / life cleric combo is about the best way to build a healer. |

Knowledge cleric also works nicely but you'd be stuck with one useless spell always prepared (command, which will never hit given your presumably low wisdom).
But yeah, cleric gets you bless and cure wounds and guidance, which really helps the bard. |

With twin and quicken spells, you can cast 2 cure wounds at any level, or throw it out as a bonus action and still free for a cantrip or attack (or healing feat). Couple that with being able to twin improved invis, haste, or even polymorph and your party will love you. |

I'm currently playing a Fighter 1 / Lore Bard X. Crossbow Expert on var Human, but I'm trying to avoid doing healing and hadn't checked that out.
Rogue Thief 3 var Human with Healer feat, was my impression of the early game super healer in-combat. Personally I'd prefer a Paladin to take the Inspire Courage feat at level 1, instead of squeezing Bard into that role. |
