Mage Hand and Rogue?

I've read a few posts that said Mage Hand works well with a Rogue (for example, an Arcane Trickster), but I can't quite figure out why. Is one's conjuration considered an enemy to enemies? That's all I can think of.

Thanks.

The Arcane Trickster Roguish Archetype has special rules to make mage hand more useful.

Arcane Tricksters gain special abilities to:

  • make the mage hand effect invisible
  • use the mage hand ability to disarm traps, pick pockets, or plant objects on creatures (from range)
  • command the mage hand effect as a bonus action (instead of an action)
  • use the mage hand effect to grant the Rogue advantage on attack rolls

A combination of the third and fourth points means that an (appropriate level) Arcane Trickster can manufacture advantage against an opponent as a bonus action with mage hand.

Outside of combat, disarming a pit trap or spike trap from 30' away may keep the Rogue safe if they accidentally spring the trap.
