| #1EstralitaJun 22, 2015 11:01:58 | Hello there! I have been looking to get into 5e, and have been joining games online. But I've run into a snag. I own my own copy of the PHB. but not the DMG, so when the DM says "Pick an Uncommon Magic Item to start" or "SInce we're playing a high level game, each player gets 6 common, 4 uncommon, 2 rare, and one each of very rare and legendary" I don't know where to start. Is it okay for me to ask what items, given the above restrictions, would be good for a Favored Soul 6 in the Death Domain, or a Fighter 4/Fiendish Warlock 14 with Pact of the Blade? Or do I need to just make the investment in the DMG? |

I'll type a better answer at a full keyboard, but for now you can check out the Dungeon Master's Basic Rules here to see some of the more well-known items. Be advised that you've been offered a LOT of them; by the book you will rarely have more than four or five permanent items. For now, try this: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules |

In addition to the magic items in the Basic DM rules that Tempest_Stormwind has linked to, there are some more in the downloadable adventure supplements for HotDQ, RoT and PotA. Go to the online resource links and follow the three links listed under adventure supplements.
Otherwise, you can keep it simple and pick from these:
Potion of Healing -- Common +1 weapon or shield -- uncommon +2 weapon or shield -- rare +3 weapon or shield -- very rare +1 armour -- rare +2 armour -- very rare +3 armour -- legendary |

| #5SorsohkaJun 23, 2015 10:19:37 | and remember that in 5e there is attunable item and non attunable item.
You can use only 3 attune item, and you have no restriction for non attune item as long as it make sense(if you want to wear 5 ring go ahead, but wearing 3 pair of goggle might not be acceptable, as long as you don't ahve more then 3 attunable one)
The attunable property in the item description in the DMG.
Maybe you can ask a friend to lend you his DMG.
