Tiefling would also be awesome, but short of an alt stat block for them coming out it looks like a terrible choice for an Eldeitch Knight.
Im a big fan of Str at the attack stat, but Dex isnt necceserily bad. |

Just find a feature that lets you tell your story the best, becuase every background gives you two more skills, two languages or tools/sets. If your playing Adventure league you have to pick one of the pre gen background features, though you are allowed to use the listed variants from PHB as well |
| #4jeremyc13Oct 24, 2014 1:23:41 | Rapier it is!

| #5cowleymenOct 24, 2014 3:08:14 | glad to help, what is his story? |
| #6IxidorRSOct 24, 2014 6:58:31 | I'm running something similar in AL, though I chose to go 16/16 so I'll probably blast more than you do. Reflecting, maybe I should have boosted CON more since you'll mostly want to take buff/debuff spells. I chose to go with Acid Splash due to the multi-target potential and for situations where a save spell made more sense than a spell attack. It's come in handy a few times, but I'm more likely to attack.
Also, I'm surprised at Scale Mail over Studded Leather. You're likely going to boost your DEX to 20 by the end of your career. You can also use a shield, though you have to shuffle a bit for somatic spells until you take the War Caster feat, which you absolutely should. You can manage without it if you're DM will allow you to shuffle your equipment more, but the benefits are so good I don't see why you'd pass it up. Anyway, back to the armor. Studded Leather w/ Shield is13+5+2=20 vs Scale Mail, with Medium Armor Master, and Shield is 14+3+2=19. You can get a 20 if you pick up Half Plate at some point. I'll be sticking with Studded Leather throughout my career as I don't like Stealth DA. I'm still starting at 17 AC with a shield.
War Caster, Medium Armor Mastery (if you stick with medium armor), Sentinel and Shield Master are all good feats for the build. Shield Master clashes with your cantrip+attack class feature, but you'll have turns where you want to only use weapon attacks. It's been debated that you could maybe use your bonus action before attacking so that you could prone and then get a fantastic number of attacks in one turn when you factor in Action Surge, Extra Attack, and Haste. At level 13 after a turn casting Haste, you can drop 7 attacks (Action for 3 attacks, Action Surge for 3 Attacks, Haste Action for 1 Attack)plus the bonus action Shove. If you're allowed to use the bonus action first, that gets very, very sweet.
I'm guessing this was based on something like a Sword Mage, so I can understand why you might not want to take a shield, to keep with prevous incarnations. I should note that the Dueling Fighting Style current wording does allow you to take a shield in your off-hand as it states only that you are wielding no other weapons. Shields are not defined as weapons in this game. |

| #20jeremyc13Oct 24, 2014 10:38:08 | Right. That'll defenitely be in the plans as Disadvantage on stealth sounds like a pain. |

| #22jeremyc13Oct 24, 2014 13:27:09 | Ok So My Magus (its the class name I am most comofrtable with) level 3: War Magic
Arcane Pool: The Magus gets a pool of hit dice that he may spend, as a free action. When he does he roll one of these die, and add it+ his int mod to damage for 3 turns. These do not stack, but otherwise he can use them as often as he likes. They refresh only on a long rest. At level 10, he may choose to have this damage count as force, fire, shock, cold, or necrotic. the pool equals 2+ his Int score.
Level 7: Spell Recall: The Magi may expend a Pool hit die to regain the use of any one spell slot he has used this encounter. Or the use of his Arcanum (the 6-9 spells that will be daily for him.) as they become available to him. For the arcanum, he may only recall them once/day.
Level 8: Ability Score increase
Level 10: Ability score increase (He gets just the one from his fighter parent class. Otherwise its as normal.) Level 11:Extra Attack (2) (His final extra attack.) arcana level 6 Level 14: Elderitch Strike Arcane Strike, When making a spell attack in melee (Such as shocking grasp) he may make it as part of a weapon attack as a bonus action. The damage die have advantage. (roll total, roll total again, use higher.)
Level 16:AS improvement Level 19: AS I |
