you can switch weapons easily enough, and there's no penalty. TWF is good for the second chance to sneak attack. you do not need to take fighter to use it.

The multi class is to get more attacks after my sneak attack I was thinking going ranger for spells and my primary weapon is a bow the melee for the ones that get to close and it's fun to kill with a shorter weapon or I could do 5 ranger 3 fighter for duelist was going arcane trickster for spell slots

I have a Barbarian / Rogue Two Weapon Fighter that I'm having a ton of fun with. What I like about this build is the Resistance you get from Barbarian Bear Totem at 3rd plus Uncanny Dodge Half Damage at Rogue 5th (granted I have to be in Rage in order to gain the Resistance benefits). Plus going down the Assassination Path in the Rogue and stacking it with Sneak Attack Damage is pretty sweet. Critical hit with Assassintaion at Rogue 3rd and Sneak Attack Damage doubled is not bad with a short sword (plus 6 sided dice have always liked me, so I'm pretty golden when I roll damage).

But just imagine, Stealth into Suprise Attack, Assassination plus Sneak Attack Damage is 1d6 x2 for the Assassination plus Sneak Attack 3d6 x2 (that is what I get right now) + Stat Modifier, and I'm a Poisoner (because of Assassination Path) and so now my victim has Poison damage and disadvantage on all rolls. That is a nice combo. And that is one hit. Move back into Stealth with your Disengage when you need to or just Hide because of your Cunning Action at Rogue 2nd.

Anyways, look into it. I'm having a great time and doing some nice damage, but I forgot to mention that I took the Savbage Attacker feat, so when the 6 sided dice don't work for me I just re-roll them. Anyways, its the little advantages that you collect along the way that make this build fun to play, but I am a Rogue at heart and I do love me some Stealth Combat.
