Does a monk need high wisdom? I've created a forest gnome monk with 10 wisdom. I intend on taking him down the way of shadow path and I cant see where his wisdom comes into play. Also, would sharpshooter be a good feat to take with him? If I'm going to be teleporting around shadows.

The only thing is Wisdom to AC for your build.  Which is pretty big being that you can't wear armor or use shields.  Also perception which will be a big skill for you.

Add the DC for Stunning Strike to the wisdom list too.

Stunning Strike needs WIS. And that's pretty much the Monk's everything in combat.

So should I bump my wisdom by 2 stats on my lvl4 bonus? I didn't think it affected my ac, I thought that was con. Maybe my DM will allow me to drp my str which is at 13. Edit; Sorry, I miss read my cs. My wisdom is at 14, my intellegence and charisma are at 10.

Yeah, CON is for the Barbarian's AC. WIS is for the Monk.

I'd max out DEX first, then after that work on WIS.

Monk's reeeeeally need Wisdom to be viable. Your AC is wisdom based, as is your Stunning Strike. But so too are all the save DCs in Open Hand Technique and Way of the Four Elements. You really need those saves to be good to make the class better than a Battle Master fighter.

If you go down the Shadow path, you still have Stunning Strike and your AC to consider, and Stunning Strike is by far the Monk's best combat ability. Of course, if you are going a ranged Sharpshooter Monk, then I guess you don't need it, but then I would question the strength of your build to begin with.

For what it's worth, I would ask what tradition monk you are playing with?   Monks need wisdom for two major things - AC and the DC on the effects they use.  Monks use that wisdom-based DC for one MAJOR ability - stunning strike.  Depending on your tradition, there may be several others as well.  Every spell that the elemental monks learn uses wisdom as thier casting modifier.  All of the abilities that the Open Palm monks learn are based on wisdom (quivering palm and the ones that gives them sanctuary).   Shadow Monks seem to lack most of these abilities.  The ONLY ability that shadow monks have that need wisdom are the ones that every monk has (AC and Stunning Fist).

I'd say that a monk with a low wisdom would do best as a ninja.

I'm taking way of shadow as my route, and yes, he is going to be a ninja. I've already been playing him in expeditions so I won't be creating a new character. His Wisdom is actually 14 and not 10 as I already corrected. I considered the sharpshooter feat as I'm trying to figure out a good way of taking advantage of all his stealthy abilities and speed.

I am playing a way of the shadow monk.  His dex is used for attack, damage, and AC so that's his most important stat.  Wisdom is second most important because it affects his AC and stunning strike.  Both are very useful because of the skills associated with them.  I also put points into charisma and intelligence since his background is spy and I wanted him to be better at cha and int skill checks like deception and investigate.  He's an intelligence gathering ninja-like character.
