| #1MorticulaeJul 28, 2015 17:34:29 | So I just started a new character. My first 5E character, in fact, although I've been messing around in 3.5 and 4 for a long time. I have a basic idea of what I want to do with it, but I'm just pondering the best timing to do things.
My final goal is Monk/Barbarian/Bard - MAD as hell, but I managed to roll up a very nice base stat spread (Str 20, Dex 15, Con 12, Int 9, Wis 16, Cha 15 after Half-orc modifications) and it fitted nicely with the character concept I had. I'm taking a lot of influence from the grappling guide here, stacking up the unarmed massed attacks of the monk, rage and bear totem from the Barbarian, and expertise and spellcasting from the Bard.
I've opened with Monk as my base class - Con has to suffer with demands in four stats already, so Monk UA seemed like a better a deal.
The question is, where do I diverge? I'm loosely looking at Monk 10, Barb 4, Bard 6 - Bard 6 gets me College of Lore magical secrets for Enlarge, Barb 4 gets the feat, and then just focus monk for the rest for cool shenanigans...
On the one hand, heading straight for Monk 5 to get extra attack and additional grappling stuff, as well as a feat, all sounds good... but I'm not sure of what I should be prioritising here and what is worth rushing towards. Not getting feats/ability raises every four levels, but every four levels of a given class, is a little weird... |
