Multiclassing a first level Warlock into Cleric (consider the question mechanical rather than thematic), does the character gain access to 2 first level cleric spells and 2 first level warlock spells? 3 Cleric cantrips and 2 Warlock cantrips?

Ask yourself this: does a level 1 Warlock get 2 level 1 Warlock spells and 2 Warlock cantrips?

Now, ask yourself this: does a level 1 Cleric get 2 level 1 Cleric spells and 3 Cleric cantrips?

If the answer to both of those is Yes, then your answer is Yes.

More to the point, you have 3 1st level spell slots with which to cast your level 1 Warlock and Cleric spells.

Well, my confusion is based in the fact that Pact Magic isn't listed as combining with Spell slots. So the spell slots for Cleric are the only ones that matter in a multiclass? Warlock 1/Cleric 1 means only a first level spell slot, but does that mean only for Cleric spells or Warlock AND Cleric spells. As that would mean the Cleric would cast one less spell than a starting Cleric...

But you are saying the multiclass combo would have 5 cantrips total?

A warlock 1/Cleric 1 has the following:

  • Cantrips: Two warlock cantrips plus three cleric cantrips*
  • Spells known:  Two 1st level warlock spells.
  • Spells prepared: 1+Wisdom Modifier cleric spells prepared, plus two 1st level domain spells.
  • Pact Slots: One 1st level pact slot.
  • Spell Slots: Two 1st level spell slots.

*Some domains grant a bonus cantrip, not counted in the above numbers.

The character can cast either of his two 1st level warlock spells using his 1st level spell slots. He can also cast any of his prepared cleric spells (including domain spells) using his single pact magic slot.

Scaling the character to Warlock 9/Cleric 11, the character would have:

  • Cantrips: plus five cleric cantrips*
  • Invocations: Five invocations.
  • Spells Known: Ten warlock spells of varying level.
  • Spells prepared: 11+Wisdom Modifier cleric spells prepared, plus 10 domain spells (of varying level).
  • Pact Slots: Two 5th level pact slots
  • Spell Slots: Four 1st level, three 2nd level, three 3rd level, three 4th level, two 5th level, and one 6th level (4/3/3/3/2/1)

The character could cast any of his ten warlock spells using his cleric spell slots, providing he uses a slot of the spells level or higher. The character can also cast any of his 5th level (or lower) cleric spells using his two pact slots. All spells cast in thes pact slots are scaled to 5th level.

For example: If the character casts the cleric spell cure wounds using one of his pact slots, s/he would cast the spell at 5th level, healing 6d8+Wisdom modifier damage.

Hope this helps.
