| #1puddFeb 08, 2015 9:24:38 | So I had this idea for a multiclass character and I assume I'm not the first person to have it but I won't be able to sleep until I ask about it ok.
It's a few question that mostly have to do with trading spell slots and cumulative spellcaster levels and such.
1. If I was a life domain cleric 1 / warlock 5 that means I can use a warlock spell slot to cast Cure Wounds as a level 3 spell, right? That should heal for 3D8 + 7 (2 + 3 (spell level) + 2 (wis 14)). And I can do that twice per short rest as well as the channel divinity for the life domain.
2. If I was a sorcerer 3 / warlock 3 can I use the warlocks pact magic spell slots to trade for sorcerery points? It doesn't specifically say you have to use sorcerer spell slots or even non-pact magic spell slots. Just spell slots. It's the same arguement as to if a paladin can use other classes spell slots for Divine Smite, or if a druid can use them for the heal from the Combat Wild Shape feature.
3. Do cantrips scale with class level or character level? I'm assuming character level because I can't find if it specifies anywhere. This is the first time I've been to level 5+ in 5th ed so I need to ask.
4. Less of a multiclass question but still important. Assuming the carrying capacity ratio thing is the same for pretty much everything (4 x str score), could an owl or a raven carry a spider? If so then a druid could kinda have flight at level 2, assuming human variant with ritual caster (find familiar + 1 other). 3 levels in chain pact warlock and that owl or raven turns into an imp with invisibility.
Maybe I can finally get to sleep now. Thanks in advance.

2. You can use the PAct Magic spell slots to fuel Sorcery Points, yes.
3. Cantrips scale with character levels. I don't have the link at hand, but the lead designers have clarified that at some point.
4. Yup, you could do that trick with Wildshape and Familiars. But, just in case, the imp won't turn the Spider-Druid when it carries them around, as its invisibility does not target other creatures, only objects it holds and itself.
Also, as a followup to your first question, here's another combo to consider: Life Cleric 1/Druid 1/Warlock X. Druid gives you the Goodberry spell, which normally makes 10 berries that heal 1 HP each and can last up 24 hours. When combined with Life Clerics, they heal for 4 each (1 from berry + 2 + 1 for spell level) each; that's up to 40 HP per casting. Mix that with Warlocks, and you could get up to 80 HP worth of healing per short rest.
