Please forgive me for my lack of knowlege, and certain misuse of some terminology. That being said, my first campaign ended after 2 sessions because my DM had life come up too often, and we were very eager to get going. My second campaing, I knew a little more, and actually put a lot of thought into my character. In a nutshell, the story goes: My character gets a solo event where I come across a pile of rocks with a sigil of the BBEG's faction, I touch it and it says something along the lines of "good work at _________ peak summoning my sister, (note: this is the ritual that me and my pals stopped a day or two earlier), please come back to my castle for further instructions". Thankfully, my character is built into pretty much nothing but Deception and Slight of Hand, and I picked up some robes from the cultists we killed on the mountian, I asked the DM if I could go on a solo mission to infiltrate the tower. He says yes and my adventure begins a few days later between the two of us. In the interest of keeping this short so that people will read this, I sneak through all the rooms of this huge ****ing castle. Get to the one BBEG and she sees right through my level 3 deception. My new job is to summon the sister, and to make sure I do, the DM binds a amulet to my neck, which carries the lesser shadow demon "Nashor". He is my glorified baby sitter. If I fail to summon this sister, I suffer 1000 years of pain, agony and what have you. If I die, Nashor is forced to take my place, making it in his best interest to beat the everliving **** out of anything that gives me so much as a dirty look.
Some small adventures pass and I re-summon the sister. After much dialogue, she takes off my amulet, and Nashor with it. I begged her, to let me keep the amulet as a reward for returning her from the shadow realm, but she crushes the amulet to dust, along with Nashor's soul, and gives it to me. Now I have a pouch of Nashor's dust, and I'm wondering if there's anything in game that will allow me to bring him back. I really want to stick it to my DM who is having the time of his life, trolling us first time adventurers. I am not looking to re-bind Nashor to his old self, I would be happy with binding him to a regular living NPC, who is required to serve me, or something. I'm not even looking to make him very peoweful, I just really miss my bitter/sarcastic shadow demon. Thanks for reading this y'all and I hope there's something I can do. Have a good day. |

The rulebook is a somewhat loose set of guidelines for the DM to use, but the way it works, the DM is basically the storyteller, and the players are her characters. A good DM gives the players agency to decide where the story goes, but if you've got a bad one, nothing in-game can help you fight them. You'll have to talk to the DM out-of-game about the direction you want things to go.
You might look at the spells Resurrection and True Resurrection, available to very high-level clerics. Those might be able to revive the character. Wish is also a catch-all for miraculous effects, but may involve some cost or chance of failure. Notice, though, that these all have DM controls built in. Even resurrection won't work if the DM decides that the soul of the target isn't "free." But it's something to bring up with them. Maybe they'll be willing to let you quest for someone who can cast those spells for you. |
| (Reply to #3)Deriza | Update: After our first boss encounter tonight, my DM graciously has told me that Nashor was not in fact dead. we were all made to believe he was dead. After an embarassing amount of stealth assack misses, we killed the Boss and the DM granted me Nashor back as a small little demon, who only I can see and hear. Things worked out pretty swell |
