Actually i don't expect someone really answer this question (i have tried before with no success) but I'll give a try

Can someone tell which are the best choice for favored enemy and natural explorer?

I am too lazy to thing about it, i'd say undead, dragon and fiend but how many times you need to make a good survival check to track a dragon? and with undead you don't learn any new language. Also grassland looks like one of the most common  terrain but  most of the benefits are useless on grassland (hard to think you'll get difficult terrain in it etc.)

I think scrolling the monster manual will give some answers but i'm not good at it.

I dont usually do well answering optimization questions, but:

- humanoids are nogt a bad choice, you can basically encounter humanoids of various kinds across all levels of experience in various degrees of difficulty.

- fiends and undead are a bit similar to humanoids in that regard, though fiends will be rare at the lowest levels.

- giants will are fairly predictable hard hitting foes across the low-mid to mid-high levels typically, but they still have a place in the high levels though probably will be mnore like minions and multiples rather than one or two BBEG, thematically a giant killer is cool of course.

- Dragons are very rarely encountered in numbers and not often at low levels either, though they are some of the more heroic BBEGs it would not be my pick for optimization but dragon slayers are still cool.

- elementals, usually do not tickle my fancy but possible to encounter across the levels in theory but rarely as BBEG.

- abberations would work but thematically not very appealing to me.

- monstrosities, are appliable on any level but I find the lack of a unifying theme unappealing for a chosen specialization.

- beasts, big game hunter is cool, but they are not usually challenging opponents at the higher levels.

fiends, undead and humanoids are among the best choices imo.

favored terrain depends on your campaign world, read up on it, see what the interesting terrains are and whether it coincides with your favored enemy. Also look at your skills and which skills are useful to double up on in which terrains.

As a herbalist I'd pick forest, plenty of places to hide, climb etc. it's probably the most diverse

Desert is a no brainer in a campaign like darksun / athas.

Coast is probably a good choice if you spend much time on a ship, likely your DM will allow you a bonus on a ship as well. fits well with pirate or sailor backgrounds or even merchants.

Thank you sir, some good food for thought there.

the problem is that favored enemy in this edition only help you to see them(perception), track them or get some info. Probably the best use is to learn a language or see particular stealth or deciving creatures (if you are proficient in insight)
