| #1atuthajJul 25, 2015 23:45:30 | So, I started a campaign a month ago as a rogue. Not long after I decided I was going to be a swashbuckler and multiclass fighter. I'd heard they worked well together and was excited to give it a shot. Well, around lvl 2 I realized that our party was fairly undiversed in some ways (except for a scorcer, we were all dual wielders, a fighter, ranger, and rogue, so 3 of 4 of us) We were all kinda boring run in hit stuff with both our weapons and run out characters. So the DM suggested that I multiclass into warlock instead of fighter to add some diversity if I wanted to still multiclass. So I did and I like it for the most part, but I no longer have any idea what to do with this build. I've never been a warlock before or a magic user for that matter. So right now I'm a lvl4 swashbuckling archfey roguelock. I heard that the Darkness/devil sight combo was pretty good but also hear that My sneak atk is useless now that I have eldrich blast. Because EB will be the better choice. I was thinking of going Blade pack but the fact that it takes an action to even summon it is kind of a bummer, cause that means in a random battle It might take me till turn 3 to set up for battle (1 turn to summon weapon, two o summon darkness, 3rd turn I get in there after my party is in a real bad way or dang near done with the fight. I'm just looking for suggetions overall of what to do. I also have access to the lost book of spells as an option. The Battle double looks cool. anyway sorry for the block of text. And thanks in advance |

Using 2 light weapons at lower levels has kept the damage out put comparible to a barbarian. The damage has a few plateaus to consider. After taking 2 weapon master feat. After getting Cha as a damage bonus from evocations. You can keep your weapons out if needed. Darkness is a pain in the butt for the other PCs unless they have a way to get advantage while in the magical darkness. A wolf pack barbarian is one way to mitigate the disadvantage. I don't see the tactic used much after level 5. Talk with your DM about the spell Vampiric Touch. I house ruled the spell could be delivered via weapon which then allows the Bonus action weapon attack. |

Characters that can't see in the magical darkness are blinded and are at disadvantage, but characters that can't see the attacker grant advantage, so the net result is attacking regularly without advantage or disadvantage. The real impact is if a character can see in the magical darkness they attack with advantage and enemies have disadvantage to attack them. |

| #8atuthajJul 26, 2015 15:02:53 | Does anyone have anysuggestions of how to make a swashbuckling roguelock work? Is the Devil darkness combo worth it? Is bladepact worth it if I don't go for thirsting blade? I think I may go for frostbite as my second cantrip. Suggestions for a second spell? |

| #10atuthajJul 26, 2015 22:01:19 | I read that you have to get 5 levels in warlock to get thirsting blade not just character levels. Is that incorrect? |
| #11Coredump00Jul 26, 2015 23:26:56 | That is correct

| #14atuthajJul 27, 2015 11:44:22 | Also I currently have 3 rogue/1warlock . Thinking of going back rogue next level to pick up dual wielding feat. DM says it will help me to continue to TWF even though I need a hand open for spells. |

| #16atuthajOct 08, 2015 14:36:30 | SO! sorry to ressurect one of my old threads but I needed some more input on my build and I figure better this so I don't have to explain as much than make a new topic. So far I've leveled how planned. I'm still a warlock and If I'm correct Second isn't as big a decision but is pretty cool. After wrapping up a story arc our DM gave our characters an option to take a year off, he had several options of things to do that would result in everything from learning certain feats to stat increases. I asked what would happen if I went to my warlock patrons realm and learned more about my abilities? He said I would learn an additional warlock invocation! It had to be of my current warlock Lvl but could be swiched out like all invocations when I would lvl. So far the only invocations I know are, Devil Eyes, and Agonizing blast. I'm unsure what I should learn now, and if I should switch it out for something else in the future.
So there, that's it, again sorry for the long post in an old thread. and thanks.
P.S. when I get to LvL 4 warlock I was planning on taking crossbow expert to be able to attack twice once up close and once at range. It seemed like a better option than the Dual wield feat. |
| #17atuthajOct 08, 2015 14:37:45 | Annnnnny one got any ideas? Any input on other possible feats? |
| #18bidOct 08, 2015 17:26:28 | You still want thirsting blade for the second attack and more chance of SA. And if that homebrewed thing makes bows a "pact weapon" you are really gaining something. OTOH, tome would make you the only ritual caster of the group.
