Wizard will get the you MOST utility, though you lose access to healing spells going that route. Cleric or druid will also give you good choices in a small party. A Moon druid will get better combat wildshapes, and can still use healing magic when not transformed. A war cleric would be a strong choose, letting you wear heavy or medium armor, get healing spells, and some good combat utility. |

| #4BrazensnowOct 27, 2014 3:41:25 | Thanks for the ideas, I have come up with three character concepts, first a Half elf warlock, but decided it was kinda weak somehow... then I considered a Half Moon Elf/ Half Drow ( yes I read the cutter comics recently wizard, last a storm domain cleric... But they asked me to create a sneaky type, I don't think there's a class that cover sneak heavy range damage and control... |

You shouldn't need to do massive damage with a Paladin in the party though. If you sideline sneak to "something I'm good at", I'd suggest dragon Sorcerer. Train in stealth and boost Dex after Cha. You'll be sneaky (subtle spell, high dex) and can work as a face. Of course it also comes with the benefit of not relying upon physical stuff (except spells that require material components). |

Enter a rage from hiding, charge out and do extra rage damage, combined with sneak attack damage, and don't worry about getting hurt because you'd have your rage damage resistance and a high natural AC from a high DEX (from rogue), high CON and unarmoured defence (from barbarian).
Although, not having the PHB on me, I can't say if rage and sneak attack would gel. One might be STR based, one is definitely DEX based. Perhaps two-weapon fighting might work that way: a main STR based attack followed by a bonus action short sword attack. |

Theoretically any class not wearing heavy armor can sneak just fine with 14 dex and proficiency with the stealth skill. (70% success rate with DC 10) With only 3 players I suggest a front line fighter type, especially if the Ranger is ranged. Barbarian or Cleric are good choices. You’ll need another meat shield in the thick of combat otherwise the paladin is going to get swarmed. Rogue might be ok, but it doesn’t have the sustain that the Barb or Cleric have. In any case I would avoid multi-classing. With only a three man team your going to need every character firing on all cylinders at every level. There’s no need for a magic user in 5e.

| #12YunruOct 27, 2014 12:10:32 | Actually I'd suggest starting Barbarian for the first level and then going Fighter. Stick to Finese weapons and Dexterity. I'd suggest variant Human with Crossbow Expert so delaying Extra Attack has less of an effect. Start with a 16 in Dex and Con and you've better than any light armor. |
| #13YunruOct 27, 2014 12:16:31 | After all that I forgot my reasoning: Crossbow Expert to bring the pain. Due to smaller group size focus fire is going to be more of a thing so some good AC to stop the enemies doing the same. |
