**Alright, i updated some of the invocations base on comments you guys provided. Hope i get it right this time. Since i was in a good mood, i also add a few... Comments are, still, welcome...

| #2spanglemakerSep 15, 2014 2:07:54 | Looks interesting, although Archfey and Great Old Ones may want to toughen up their Warlocks, the same may apply to piercing gaze and possibly voidsense. I have only scanned this, so not checked my PHB or compared and contrasted to other invocations
http://www.realmshelps.net/cgi-bin/warlock.pl
In the earlier edition: Warlocks Call gave an at will: Sending.
|
| #3VarunaSep 15, 2014 2:37:54 | Hideous Blow completely kills Blade Warlock though. Why go Blade Pact if you can get an awesome melee option for the price of one invocation?
I do like the other ones. Demonic toughness is great early game, but should probably be switched out later on. |
| #4Mommy_was_an_OrcSep 15, 2014 5:37:17 | I'd modify them in the following ways: |
| #5TimeshadowsSep 15, 2014 7:30:44 | (If Hideous Blow were confined to Blade Pact, it would be oh so welcome!)
I'd like it if Voidsense were a full 30' rather than 10'
I'd like to see Spiderwalk at a lower level, 6 max. |
| #6pupoochiSep 15, 2014 11:45:21 | Wow!! first thanks guys for the replies...
- Spanglemaker: i know Warlock's Call use to be different, i just love the name
- Varuna: ya figures it's a bit too good... i wanted a "holy **** he's in my face" option... and this was my answer... question is: what to do with it?
- Mommy_was_an _Orc: for demonic toughness i didn't want the +1 hp/ level, some abilities/ feat already do that, wanted a unique feel. How about... CON save as class prof and +1hp/ level? good point on piercing gaze, will update! warlock's call... ya you're right, find familiar seems to be lame... great name, but could do better...
- Timeshadows: IF i were to confine hideous blow to blade pact, what use will they have for it? i meann they have weapons, so no need for a melee back up... i gave voidsense only 10 feet range cause it seems to be a powerful invocation, didn't want to boost it to much... Might reconsider... for spiderwalk i use levitate as "template" since they are both 2nd level spells... and the levitate version is available only at level 9. Spiderwalk might be a little less powerful...
Again guys, thanks.... will wait for more comments before applying updates.

| #8Yag007Sep 15, 2014 16:34:13 | "Pupoochi: - Varuna: ya figures it's a bit too good... i wanted a "holy **** he's in my face" option... and this was my answer... question is: what to do with it?"
well the thing is that bladepact warlock IS the holy **** he's in my face option, the blastlock wants to stay at long range as their battle style. The problem with that one, and the voidcall one, is that they give basically give warlock access to a pact feature on top of the one they chose. The whole point of the pacts is that you have to pick one you know?
if you want an option for a blastlock to have some benefit for being at close quarters, maybe you can give them a bonus to attack rolls inside a certain range, or make it lock up OA's until EoT or something like that.
one thing I'd like to see (can't think of a name off the top of my head) is a higher level version of Cloak of Shadows that allows you to move without losing the effect.
I'd also like to see some feature that gives a warlock more reason to use all the sweet fire spells feind opens up. as it stands there are certain "best" spells right now that just outclass all others and with such few spell slots you pretty much have to use only them. Maybe increasing the AoE of your fire spells? or adding a burn DoT to fire spells? I'm not good at balancing stuff. |
| #9pupoochiSep 17, 2014 2:28:51 | Oki boys take a look... updates done and even add a few more |
| #10pupoochiSep 18, 2014 12:28:08 | ** update 18-09 more, more! |
| #11pupoochiSep 21, 2014 11:33:57 | Any comments on the new ones? |
| #12CrimsonAssassinSep 21, 2014 13:07:28 | I'm glad to see Hideous Blows was revised. It now demands you take Blade Pact. |
| #13MechatarrasqueSep 21, 2014 13:26:26 | I like the new ones. I was just thinking that spirit guardians would be a great spell to add to a gloom pact warlock. I like the idea of being able to grow a tentacle too.
I was going to add this as an ability for the gloom pact, but it would work as an invocation as well:
Master of Shadows You can cast animate dead, but instead of a zombie or a skeleton, you animate a shadow or conjure a specter from the remains [I have heard that specter's are low CR in the monster manual].

| #15AhrimonSep 21, 2014 18:46:30 | Maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing any benefit to hideous blow. You give up your action on one round to cast a spell that then empowers you attacks on the next round to add in up to the same damage that you could have dealt in the round before. Less if you have fewer attacks than bolts. It's just delaying your damage for a round and putting your damage potential into the next rounds rolls. The only situation I can see it being useful is when you can cast it before combat begins.
Don't get me wrong, I love the concept. My first character is going to be a bladelock when I can finally play. But I just don't see this as being useful. Otherwise I like what I'm seeing. Perhaps a flat +1d6 per round or +1 or +2 per bolt to damage? |

| #17DoomaflatchiSep 21, 2014 21:44:44 | RE: Mental Discipline
I believe the Warlock already has Proficiency on Wisdom saving throws. |

| #19pupoochiSep 27, 2014 10:24:47 | Updated a few, add more, you know... |
| #20VarunaSep 27, 2014 17:09:24 | appendage and festering wounds are AWESOME!! if you make those attacks Bonus actions, ooh so delicious for Blade Pact. Althought that combine with Hideous Blow... thats some serious damage! I like them! Although my DM would prolly call them OP. |

| #22the_moveSep 29, 2014 1:55:30 | Imho the Chain pact does not get very much love.
There should be some Invocations like:
Eldritch Tamer Prereq: lvl15, Pact of the Chain
Celestials, elementals, and fiends have disadvantage on their saving throws against Banishment, Dominate Monster and Hold Monster spells cast by you.
Conjure Fiend Prereg: Pact of the Chain, Conjure Fey as 6th lvl Mystic Arcanum Spell
When casting Conjure Fey, you can choose to conjure a fiend creature of an appropiate challenge rating (6 or lower) instead.Further you can forgo any one of your higher Mystic Arcanums to cast Conjure Fey at the same lvl of the Mystic Arcanum forgone. For example you can forgo your lvl 8 Mystic Arcanum to cast a lvl 8 Conjure Fey. |

| #27the_moveSep 30, 2014 8:10:10 | Btw. add 'fey' to Eldritch Tamer. No, those creatures do not grant wishes, but they seem to be quite capable thugs. |

|
| #30MechatarrasqueSep 30, 2014 12:36:47 | If I was going to build a conjure fiend, I would base it off the conjure elemental, but add temptation: you can raise the CR by 1 for the level of the spell (example summoning a CR 6 with a level 5 spell), but you are under disadvantage for con checks as long as the fiend is on the same plane as you (so if you extend the stay with planar binding, you are at disadvantage on con checks until the term of service is done). Even if you are in no danger of losing control, that would be a hefty price. |

| #34VarunaOct 01, 2014 15:00:03 | Have you considered Race-exclusive invocations? The most obvious one would be a Tiefling turning into a bit of a Pit Fiend if he has chosen the Fiend Pact. Another one would be a Dragonborn with tentacles for the Great Old One pact.
In any case, I have asked my DM if I could use these. Now just hoping for a positive response. |

| #36pupoochiOct 02, 2014 13:17:08 | Hi guys
I had to change Evil Eye cause it was giving Bane as an at will and Thief of Five Fates is giving it as a 1 per day spell... So here's the new version, actually fit better, lol. Evil Eye Prerequisite: 5th level
You stare at a creature with crazy eyes and spook him. You can cast Vicious Mockery, at will, without expending a spell slot or material components. |
| #37durntaurOct 03, 2014 15:18:55 | The "at will" portion is redundant as Vicious Mockery is a cantrip. |

|
| #39pupoochiNov 12, 2014 18:24:13 | I'm back! I was away for a while w/o a computer... updated the thread and add a few more base on suggestions... Enjoy! |
| #40cowleymenNov 12, 2014 23:47:29 | One thing i dont like about Hideous blow is losing extra beams. Now I have to keep casting EB every other turn to benefit, since i get two attacks a turn. Though i think this makes the Bladelock much better in terms of damage. Combine with Hex, and its a nasty combo |
| #41Tac0manDec 05, 2014 8:13:27 | I like these and plan on letting my players use them if they want. I wouldn't mind seeing some more tome and blade specific ones though. |
| #42pupoochiDec 05, 2014 13:40:50 | I added up a couple for chain pact last update, tome is the next focus. I tend to add general invocations, that everyone can use. I'm also looking into adding race specific invocations. Thanks for input. |

| #47AldarcFeb 18, 2015 12:44:30 | How about adding "Shadow Step" as an invocation? The warlock already gets the equivalent to the Way of the Shadow's 'Cloak of Shadows' ability with 'One With Shadows.' |

|
| (Reply to #51)intently | Interesting list, thanks for sharing. Would be interested in more race-specific choices... especially ones that would buff up a "weak" warlock race, like gnomes.
I love that invocations can add breadth rather than just depth to a warlock's power. |

|
| #54TyrianWolfMay 28, 2015 15:11:30 | Vile Secret, I like the idea, but it seems a tad bit powerful to me. One of the main features of a Warlock is that they have a very limited spell list and usuage, particularlly at the early levels. Few of the ways for Warlocks to get around this is either a) be a Pact of the Tome (which they only get ritual spells), b) dip into another spell caster class, or c) take one of the "Magic" feats. This invocation, in a way, is mimicing the Magic Initiate feat at a really early level, just reverse. Instead of 2 cantips and a sinlge spell (from any single caster list), this is 1 cantip and 2 spells from the warlock list. That's not very different. Is that the intent? Question is, what level spells can they pick from? First? Second? Any? Can it be used in conjuction with the Mystic Arcanum spells, meaning can I use this to get spells from 6-9th level? Why take any of the single spell invocations when we can get this and get 3 spells all together, granted only as a Pact of the Tome, but still.....
Just food for thought.
Blade Mastrey is cool. |
| #55pupoochiMay 29, 2015 0:08:10 | Ya but it's an invocation... and it's limited t o warlock spells... but if if to much, drop the cantrip.. |
