| #1Yag007Feb 03, 2015 20:53:23 | so hey, anyone have any ideas for a Lolth Pact? I don't really know of any classes that are based on lolth...I have a good idea of what the expanded spell list might be (spidery/poison/deception/evasion), but the 1/6/10/14 abilities are kinda lost on me.
im thinking something similar to misty escape for the 6th level ability but using mirror image maybe...or some invisibility skill
and I know 10th level is usually a defensive buff...maybe resistence to something poison/slow/blind or something
but honestly im kinda at a loss here, so any suggestions would be appreciated |

So Cleric is a class that could be based on Llolth. You could probably flavour Druid, Rogue, Monk and many others.
If you want a warlock pack for Llolth, reflavouring Archfey is probably your best bet. |

| #6Yag007Feb 04, 2015 15:49:00 | @ Captain Kobold: I know Lolth is a full on diety now, but the way my backstory is on my character for this drow campaign. I'm a priestess of lolth(paladin) that is being granted limited additional powers by her, which I think fits the warlock pact chassis best.
as for spells I was thinking
1st- Bane, Ray of Sickness 2nd- Web, Blindness/deafness 3rd- Nondetection, Stinking cloud 4th- Confusion, Giant Insect 5th- Insect plague, Dominate Person
and for features maybe something like....
1st- Web snare: 15 sphere foot restrain centered on caster. Dex Save to avoid on cast, and at the start of each turn. lasts CHA mod rounds
6th- Mirrored Defense: When you are attacked, you may use your reaction to create three mirror images of yourself. MAYBE roll a die here to see if one of the mirror images intercepts the attack, or maybe it just always happens.
10th- Poison Mastery: You gain proficiency with the Poisoners Kit. Additionally you gain atvantage on rolls agains being poisoned, and resistance to poison damage (like dwarven racial)
14th- Spider form: for (CHA mod) turns you take the form of a giant spider. during this time you gain the effects of spider climb, may cast web without expending a spell slot, and your attacks do an additional 3d6 poison damage and have the effect of drow poison.
dunno if thats too powerful...I'm not great at balancing stuff |

| #8Yag007Feb 04, 2015 17:12:33 | yeah i know, I thought since they weren't actual spells a warlock got it was fine. give you the chance to cast them without using up an invocation on it you know? |

| #10Yag007Feb 04, 2015 17:58:01 | ah yeah i meant for it to be for weapon attacks only. I was tyrying to balance it versus the 10d10 from feidn pact....but the problem is it would be super strong with a dual wielder but balanced otherwise I think..i mean if a bladepact TWF used it there would be the potential for 9d6 extra damage per round for 5 rounds which is pretty silly. maybe I should change it to "your first weapon attack each turn"...that way you get 15d6 over 5 rounds with maxed 20 CHA.
as for the lvl 1 feature I could tweak it to 10 feet like the fear of fey pact (I pretty much just ripped from that one anyway) |
| #11Ashur420Feb 04, 2015 18:10:42 | You could make it use a bonus action to spit poison. Then you could balance it from there. It would probably be a lot easier to balance with a fixed amount per round, it would also be viable to all warlocks not just pact of the blade. |
| #12RPGBGFeb 05, 2015 8:09:08 | Web snare is way too strong in my oppinion. If I am to balance it - I would give the targets a Dex save to resist and then Str check each round as a bonus action to break the effect. It will be similar to entangle but without the concentration requirement (which is a big drawback), but with bonus rather than normal action to overcome. I would personally also make it last Con mod rounds (minimum 1).
Mirrored defense can should be toned down as well. I would make it duplicate the effect of the mirror image spell, but with duration of 1 round (still usable as a reaction).
Spider form is also too strong. Web without using a spell slot is ok since web requires concentration, so you can web the **** out of everything. The poison... what is the effect of drow poison? Poisoned for one hour and if failing by 5 or more - unconscious while poisoned? Effect like this on a DC scaling with Cha and usable multiple times per round in addition to 3d6 damage is too much. I would personally make it bonus action to spit the poison at 30 ft. (Cha based attack roll) or apply it to your weapon for the next successful attack before the start of your next turn. Will also make the DC Con based and a choice between 3d6 damage and poisoned or poisoned with chance of unconscious. That will also have the nice effect of being relatively equal in usefullness for all warlock pacts. |
| #13Yag007Feb 07, 2015 12:05:40 | Ok so I reworked it a bit and addressed some problem areas. I think it looks pretty good here and has some interesting stuff to add. Kinda a CC/debuff focused path.
1st- Bane, Ray of Sickness 2nd- Web, Blindness/deafness 3rd- Nondetection, Stinking cloud 4th- Confusion, Giant Insect 5th- Insect plague, Dominate Person
1st- Web snare: As an action you cause a sticky web to erupt all round you. Creatures within 15 feet must make a Dex save or be restrained. This condition last a number of turns equal to the casters Charisma modifier. Creatures may attempt to break free from the web as a free action at the end of each of their turns using a STR save vs. spell DC.
6th- Acidic blood: Upon being hit with an attack, you may use your reaction to splash acid in a 5foot cone in front of you. Creatures hit with the acid take 4d4 damage and have their AC reduced by 1 until the end of their next turn.
10th- Poison Mastery: You gain proficiency with the Poisoners Kit. Additionally you gain atvantage on rolls agains being poisoned, and resistance to poison damage.
14th- Spider form: for (CHA mod) turns you take the form of a giant spider. during this time you gain the effects of spider climb and may cast web as an action without expending a spell slot. Additionally as a bonus action you can attempt a bite attack. This attack deals 3d6 poison damage and upon a failed CON save, poisons the enemy for 1 minute. |
| #14KhyronFeb 08, 2015 8:32:50 | Otherworldly Patron: Handmaiden of Lolth
You have contacted and made a pact with a Yochlol, one of Lolth's servitor demons. This unique arrangement lends you status second only the the Priestess' of Lolth, and is often the only way for a half-drow or male drow to gain recognition and a degree of respect within Drow society.
Abyssal Darkness: Starting at 1st level, your patron bestows upon you the ability to piece magical and non-magical darkness and endure the harshness of sunlight. You gain the "Devil's Sight" Eldritch Invocation, which does not count against your number of invocations known and cannot be replaced. As an action, you may ignore the effects of racial daylight sensitivity until the end of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Mist Form: At 6th level you add Gaseous Form to your list of Spells Known as a bonus spell. It does not count against your limit of Spells Known.
Handmaiden's Vestige: At 10th level, you may cast Spider Climb at will without expending a spell slot or material components, you gain resistence to poison damage, and you are no longer affected by the movement restrictions of webs.
Handmaiden's Bite: At 14th Level, when you cast Eldritch Blast, add 1d12 poison damage to damage each beam deals on a hit.
Handmaiden Expanded Spells: 1: Detect Poison and Disease, Purify Food and Drink |
