#1 Bob_no_Oni Dec 12, 2014 15:51:57	Greetings all,   I have a character idea for the fun of it. I am looking at doing a White Dragonborn Paladin of Auril. My question is, which Oath for Paladin does everyone feel would fit best for this build. I was looking at either Oath of the Ancients or Oath of Vengence. #2 Llenlleawg Dec 13, 2014 14:32:09	It's hard to imagine a paladin, at least as conceived in 5e, as also being committed to Auril, who is rather too fickle to imagine her being served by paladins. Still, of the options, the only one that makes sense would be the Oath of Vengeance. The Oath of the Ancients is too life-affirming, too committed to the green and growing things of the world, too committed to light to match up with a goddess utterly committed to blotting out the sun and plunging the world into endless dark and ice. Thematically, though, you could imagine a paladin whose principal commitment is to vengeance, and so who pledges himself to Auril to freeze his heart, ridding himself of compassion or warm senitments, so as to be free to punish the wicked with impunity and without regret or mercy.
#3 pupoochi Dec 14, 2014 1:55:20	Hummm there's one in the DM's guide: oathbreaker, it's like a dark pally, i think this will be the best.
#4 Llenlleawg Dec 14, 2014 3:36:51	The problem with an oathbreaker is that, well, it's about having broken an oath. In other words, it's not about being a paladin devoted to a dark god/dess, so I'm not sure it would work thematically for the OP.
