If anyone could help me out with this, I'd really appreciate it! I really want to make an oathbreaker paladin, who either breaks his current oath, or has chosen an evil god to worship and the oathbreaker will act as kind of an "oath" in itself he takes to the evil god. Now the part im a little confused on, is do you keep the base class features when your an oathbreaker, such as divine sense, lay on hands, divine smite, divine health, aura of protection, aura of courage, improved divine smite, and cleansing touch? They just don't seem like theyd make sense story-wise. Im sure many of these discrepancies can be fixed through home-brewed solutions (such as replacing radiant damage with necrotic damage for divine smite) but what is the intended way to handle this?

You definitely keep them. If this bothers you, just call them Profane Sense, Dark Vigor, Profane Smite, Undying Fortitude, Dark Blessing, Unfaltering Aura, and Abolish Magic. Leave the rules alone (radiant is not good). Done.

Or you could be an Oath of Vengeance Paladin that just... calms down :P

Right there, a non-evil Oathbreaker.

An issue lots of people have is justifying Radiance while worshipping an evil deity. It's still a Deity, it's still divine. Most people forget that part. Radiant is not necessarily good.
