#1 Felwyn Jun 03, 2015 20:59:06	In the spellcasting entries for Paladin and Sorcerer it says you can learn/ prepare spells only of levels which you have spell slots. So as a Pally6/Sorc 2, can I prepare 3rd level paladin spells bc I have 3rd level slots, or learn one 3rd level sorc spell if at sorc 2 (CL 8)? I read the multiclassing rules, and I am still confused. Thanks for the help!!!
#2 Macv12 Jun 03, 2015 21:28:56	See PHB 164.   What spells you can learn/prepare are determined by your level in the appropriate class. Use the table for that class to see what spell slots you would have if you had no levels in the other class. A paladin 6 normally had 2nd level spell slots, so you can only prepare paladin spells up to 2nd level. A sorcerer 2 only has 1st-level slots, so you can learn 1st-level spells.   So you don't actually have 3rd-level spells to use your slots on, but you can cast lower-level spells with those higher slots for more effect. In effect you've only mastered "basic" spells from the two sources, but probably more of them, and you do have the raw experience and reserves to cast them "better." But you won't have mastered more difficult spells as well as someone who devoted all their time concentrating on one source instead of the other.
#3 mellored Jun 04, 2015 6:28:06	Prepare spells like you where a pally 6, only a pally 6, and nothing but a pally 6.  (which is 2nd level spells).   Prepare spells like you where just a sorcerer 2, only a sorcerer 2, and nothing but a sorcerer 2.  (which is 1st level spells).     Then add the spell slots together.
