Hi, I'm making a character for my new 5e campaign starting up this Saturday. I decided to try something different.

My build would be: Paladin 12, Fighter 4, Rogue 4. It is a Paladin of Vengence, Eldritch Knight, and Assassin. This level spread grants me most Paladin features I want and keeps me at 5 stat increases. It is a Dex focused build (although I'm open to suggestions if Str might be better). The combat tactic this build is centered around is a handful of things combined.

1. Crits and multiple die sources (Dual-wielding, Smiting, Bless, Elemental Weapon, etc).

2. High Dex/Stealth (Allows for surprise round in combat which will trigger all the autocrits from Assassinate).

3. Action Surge (This will allow me to double the amount of autocrits in any surprise round).

Does this seem like a feasable build? I know it would be fairly late game in payoff (I'd expect around level 12ish) and I am okay with that. This is a solid group I've played a a lot with in the past so late game does happen.

If it can work as well as I'm thinking I feel like it can be a really solid powerhouse for Nova dps. And it works wonderfully for the backstory of my character as well. I'm just worried that I'm overlooking something that breaks it or am just misgauging the numbers or something. The general progession I had in mind would be Paladin 5, Fighter 2, Rogue 4, Fighter 4, Paladin 12. This progression would delay my stat gains/feats, but gives me the 3 main features I want quickly.

I would be taking my Rogue expertise in Stealth. I would pick Fighter lvl 1 fighting style as two-weapon fighting. My Paladin fighting style would be Defense. The only thing that I feel really suffers from this build is the fact that I have to have 13 Str as well as maxing Dex and Cha.

It is the variant Human and my starting stats are

Str 13
Dex 15 (+1)
Con 13 (+1)
Int 8
Wis 09 (+1)
Cha 14

The +1 to Con is from my level 1 feat Resilience (Con).

This is my first time posting here (to my knowledge) so if I did something wrong or didn't follow a generally accepted courtesy (in regards to formatting or anything else of that nature) I am sorry, I promise I'll fix it if I realize my mistake.

Ok 1) so with your progression you don't get a second attack until level 13? Bad idea.

2) you can do this and burst really bigish but it will wreck pretty much all of your resources so idk how helpful it even will be.

If you really want to do this start out going paladin 5 and then build up from there, because you'll need that second attack. Then you can go rogue four fighter four and still start out at level 13 or whatever, but your progression will be more stable.

You're going to be able to burst like 173 average damage at level 10 once you hit paladin 5 fighter 2 rogue 3, but just make sure you use it when it counts because it will use up everything you have. And remember you only get to crit on surprised enemies, not just dudes who go first, so it's not something you can do in just any fight.

@Coredump00 Could you repost that link? The one you have is bad.

@FrogReaver I have talked to my DM about it. I specified my intentions would be to Stealth from about 30 or so feet ahead of the party and he more or less said that would work so long as Stealthing was possible. The only risk with that would be getting isolated from the party but the Rogue levels would give me the disengage as a bonus and all that.
