Hi all, when you have the polearm master feat and strike with the haft, do you get to add str mod to the d4? Cheers!

Yes. Use your attack bonus from Str and proficiency for the attack roll. If the attack hits use 1d4 + Str Mod bludgeoning for the damage.

Would Shillelagh make that 1d4 go up to 1d8? O.o

Human Nature Cleric for the win. Calling dibs on spotting that one!

Seriously though, I spend more time trying to leverage Polearm Master than any other feat. The reaction attack when an enemy enters reach is probably the best reaction ability that you can add to a PC. And any class that doesn't already have a routine and nifty use for its bonus action gets two incredibly useful benefits for the price of one.

Combined with Shillelagh, it's really really strong. Particularly because you can still carry a shield. The spell die change means you get no benefit from wielding the staff in two hands, and Polearm Master doesn't require it, either. You can both tank and muscle up your DPR in one smooth feat-spell combo.
